I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer to this.  You could have them match or you could switch it up in a small way (eg different braces or ties or boutonnieres) or in a bit way (eg different outfits).  Ultimately it’s up to you and what look you’re going for.

Hi Bee, we had 3 groomsmen and only one Bridesmaid or Best Man, no MoH. Did we worry about the aesthetics? Yes, a tiny bit. But it was way more important to us that the decision of who stands up there be true to us. I am a serious introvert and Inonly ever wanted that one friend to be involved. On the day, I was so so so grateful to myself for this because my day was calm and peaceful with time for introspection, which is exactly what I needed to enjoy the big wedding later on to the max – I was fully relaxed and recharged.

My point is just that you both should choose who you want, and don’t feel pressured toninclude people for the sake of evening things out. I’ve almost never heard of cases where that works out well – either those people are uninterested or there is some other drama. A smart and experienced photographer will think of creative ways to still give you great shots.

I didn’t quite understand your concern re the clothes and how that will balance things out?

My husband had 2 groomsmen, but one was on a training course with the Army and couldn’t make it last minute and I had 2 Bridesmaid or Best Man. The difference between the G and Groomsmen was the G wore a black bowtie and the Groomsmen a coloured tie to match the Bridesmaid or Best Man. Photos looks awesome, you dont even really notice the uneveness of it.
