- Wedding: October 2012
Hello everyone! I was recently engaged this past April and am having a little bit of a problem with the wedding situation.
My fiance and I sort of “jumped the gun” when he proposed and booked a beautiful place to have our wedding the same month we got engaged. It’s now been 2 months and we have changed our minds completely. We have decided to cancel the venue and have a very small ceremony at our Village Hall. We haven’t told our parents yet, and I am not too concerned with the way mine will react. His on the other hand is a totally different story. But that’s not my problem.
My problem is, he doesn’t want to have a small reception afterwards and I do. I can’t imagine getting married and not being able to celebrate it afterwards with my family. It just doesn’t seem right to me. I have suggested having a small crowd come for cake and coffee afterwards but he doesn’t seem to thrilled about it. He said I could have whatever I wanted, but I’m not sure what to do. I can’t not have a wedding cake the day I get married.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what I could do the day of the ceremony? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
