I bought an engraved wedding band on the internet to see how it fit with my engagement ring. We cannot afford any kind of diamonds in the wedding band, so to reflect my style I was looking for “nature” inspired looks.
Most bands with neat detailing are too thick, but I found one that was just what I was looking for (3mm wide) :
The one I bought was in yellow gold to match my ring. Anyhow, there is a gap between the ring and the band, which I expected due to my stone shape, but I noticed that the wedding band doesn’t look like it has a smooth finish because it is engraved to the edges, practically. Thus, it looks matte, and one of my relatives commented that the two rings really look mismatched.
What do you think? It’s hard to tell from the photos, I know, but should I just go for a smooth band instead? I like the wedding band on its own, but I don’t know that I’ll wear it solo.
I keep asking around, but everyone replies “Well, I dunno, it’s your ring!” 😛

its hard to tell from the pic but from what I can see it seems like they go well together!

Here’s another picture that might be a bit more clear.

I liked the “mismatched” look, and I like those 2 rings together. Anyways, it’s your personal preferance, it’s your band! 🙂 But I do not think they look odd.

Have you ever tried the ring on with the wedding ring on first, then with your engagement ring on top? For some reason, it makes a huge difference to me in how I like my rings together. Maybe try switching them, to see if you like it any better?

Jhphi – thanks for the suggeston! I tried it on both ways, and if I put the wedding band on the “inside” of my engagement ring it makes the gap between them HUGE, which kinda bothered me.
I spent so much time looking at it – I don’t know what my gut reaction is anymore!

i don’t see the gap at all, but i also don’t like mitchy matchy too much

i actually like it when the band isn’t matchy-matchy. I’m purposely picking out a different and wider band than the band of my e-ring. I think it looks lovely!

My mom is rockin’ the same smooth gold look. It looks nice!

Looks great to me! I think if you like it, they’re a lovely set!

I think I like it! I would love to see a clearer picture of it though. Do you have a Macro setting on your camera? That would help

Even if they don’t match too well now, in a year or two they will! The shiny finish on your e-ring will get full of tiny dings and dents from daily wear and will look more like the matte engraved finish you have on your wedding band. If you don’t like the way they look on the same finger, you could wear your e-ring on your right hand after you get married.

I think they look nice together from what I can tell. My e-ring and wedding band don’t match either and I prefer it that way. I also wanted to say that I love your e-ring. Its looks very nice on your hand. Marquise cuts are my favorite!!!! I ended up trying multiple shapes on and when I tried on a marquise, I fell in love.
