My allergies are out of control! I lost count of my sneeze-count today somewhere around 136 and had 3 sneezing jags so bad I had tears rolling down my face. Good grief! I can’t get into my dr til Monday. Until then, anyone have any OTC allergy meds they swear by? (or sneezing remedies)? I’m not in any pain or anything, it’s just really annoying!

zyrtec is pretty good, I feel ya girl. I am usually on three allergy meds (zyrtec, nose spray and singulair) :/ I know you can get zyrtec over the counter, also benadryl (although it knocks me out)
I would also suggest getting a neti-pot if you don’t already have one. It’s worked wonders for me this allergy season. I use it once a day and it helps get everything out of my sinuses before bed. Also… showering after you’ve been outside for a long amount of time. I know you can bring allergens inside on your skin and even hair… washing it off you before bed only prevents you from sleeping exposed to your worse enemies for hours.
Hope this helps a little, I’ve had terrible allergies for years and this has really helped.

@SimplyChic11: THANKS! I will try zyrtec. I have Benadryl and take it at night but it knocks me out so I only use it in the day if I absolutely must. Great suggestions though! I’ll look into the neti-pot

Is it weird that I’m a little jealous? I frigging LOVE sneezing!
It must suck to sneeze all day, though….sorry I don’t have any helpful advice. 🙁

Have you tried a saline nose spray to help wash any pollen or allergens out? The netti pot would also help with this, but the nose spray you could take with you anywhere too. I’ve heard that the flavenoids in red wine will help with allergies, actually! I don’t know if that’s actually true, but it’s a good excuse to pop open a bottle. 😉
Do you have an air purifier in your home? That could also help in the meantime to filter whatever’s causing your allergies out of the air. I’m sorry… allergies are NO fun. I’ve never had seasonal allergies terribly bad until this year and now it’s horrible!!

@gallifrey: Depending on which store I’m at or what kinds of coupons I have, I usually buy Claritin-D or Alavert-D. My husband swears by Nasalcrom to stop an allergy attack.
Also, I love your screen name!

@Juliepants: ha ha not at all! I actually like sneezing too, just not all through class and studying 🙂
@subbywife11: I’ve used nasal sprays in the past but then get the postnasal drip (it’s a toss up but I think I’d prefer to sneeze). An air purifier is a great idea, I will have to look into that. Thanks!
@strawbabies: you are the first person to understand my screen name 🙂 I was beginning to think I was a little too much of a dork for chosing it ha ha. Going with what you have coupons for actually isn’t a bad idea. Allergy meds are so expensive!

My sister in law has bad allergies and I know she has gotten a lot of relief from using her neti pot, and also eliminating dairy. Might be something to try!
