Im in chicago and we have been missed by every major storm so far with only a light dusting of snow so far, and it didn’t last. Im wondering how all of you bees are doing since this latest storm has hit? im also wondering what it looks like in the places that have been hit so any snow photos you have would be interesting for me to see. I hope you all are staying safe, warm and taken care of!

North TX here. We got a bit on Christmas day. Nothing like what others have seen, but you’d think it was a blizzard the way people here freak out! Haha! I had fun playing in it with my dog! Tried to get my husband out there but he wasn’t having it. LOL

Awww, puppers likes it!
I grew up in Chicago, too, so I know what real snow is, too.
Now I’m in the freezing desert. It’s in the 30’s and 40’s at night. No big deal to some, but we’re just not used to it. And my 6 yr old furnance isn’t working right. Try to get a heating and AC guy out now.
We did get a dusting of snow and hail one winter.
I shouldn’t be complaining, there are people suffering far worse than I. Sorry, hive, for being so self absorbed.

@MercyK: ahh! your dog is adorable! my dog hates snow. She’s a total priss. She won’t go out unless forced when it snows.
@sassy411: Its no longer the case that only us chicagoans (and other midwestern areas like us) get hit with bad snow, it happens everywhere now which i kind of scary! I think we are all feeling rather lucky so far!

Snow that STUCK in northern California last week…crazy! I’ve only seen it snow here a handful of times and it has never stuck! I mean, in the mountains it does, but I live in the valley!

I dont have a photo (im on my phone) but here’s a fun mental image: a fourwheeler, a length of rope, a sled, plenty of warm padded snow clothes, and some bravery! Or a heavy dose of stupidity… Thats what we did with the 6-8 inches of fluffy snow that fell in Altoona, PA! ( Its central PA, ever so slightly towards the Pittsburgh side)

I’m in Columbus, Ohio and we actually got a fairly decent amount! It was supposed to start around 1 AM, but of course didn’t start until probably 8. It was gross freezing rain for a while, but then it started snowing huge flakes! I would guess we have 4-5 inches on the ground. The roads were terrible yesterday afternoon, but I was definitely thankful to have my all wheel drive Rogue! I got out of work early yesterday and got a chance to run my dogs around in the snow =)
Today the roads are better, but there is still plenty of snow on the ground! We’re facing another 4-6 inches tomorrow and I’m crossing my fingers that it actually happens! I LOVE snow!

Southern Maine is up to 10 inches of fresh snow and it’s still freaking falling ;(. On a good note, getting a great cardio workout shoveling today!
@Sunnyday278: you guys are insane but that is something we’d do here too!

@fivedogsrule: Another Maine Bee! Hello!
We’re doing pretty well on snow here. We live on the coast so usually the snow is heavy, wet, and full of ice. Today it has just been light and fluffy so far. Such a nice break.
Here is just past the front yard. The dock and marsh barely have snow on them so far, but where I’m standing to take the picture is about 6 inches right now. I have no idea how much we’re going to end up with, but the wind isn’t much so the snow is staying in place and it is supposed to snow for the next 15 hours straight. (Edit- Nevermind now the snow is getting spottier earlier. We might end up with less than a foot afterall!)
It is hard to tell how hard it is snowing in the picture, but there is no fog over the water, it is all snow. There is an island only 500-600 feet out that you should be able to see in this shot.

No snow for us, just cold mist and inane wind. ILs are in central Arkansas and got like a foot of snow!! Usually they get a dusting if it sticks at all.

@Smashing: where do you live? My Fiance lives on Moody Beach just off of Wells Beach and they are expecting mostly rain out of this. I’m not sure why I’m lucky enough to get all of the snow and he’s not ;(

Lucky bees! I live in south Texas—on Christmas it was 75 degrees! I love the snow and wish we got it more down here.

@fivedogsrule: We’re near Harpswell, so a bit north of your friend. We haven’t had anything but snow yet, it is so unusual. I’m not surprised that south they’re getting rain on the coast. Usually when it is snowing inland, it is a least slushing here. Most winters our dirt driveway is a giant sheet of ice a few inches thick.
