Looking to vent and get some advice. My shower is one week away…and I look today on Macy’s and I’d say about 40-50% of the registry has been purchased…but out of the remaining items, nearly all of them are “out of stock” or “limited quantities.”
We also have a Bed Bath & Beyond registry but added the Macy’s as guests (especially family, for some reason) were hinting around at wanting more options.
Should I replace the items on Macy’s? Shift them over to BBB? Give up/not care?!, lol…
What stinks is that some of the things we wanted were purchased but the matching items (e.g. wine glasses that go with the champagne flutes that were already bought) are no longer available online or in store…meaning we’d probably have to return stuff. UGH. Wish I never registered with Macy’s and stuck with BBB and that’s it…

@babycakes24: I originally made a Macy’s registry (along with BBB, target, and kohls) but as I was trying to add things to Macy’s, I realized the absolute lunacy of trying to suggest to my guests that I would like a black Waterford crystal centerpiece bowl that costs $1000. I found things at the other 3 places that I liked better and were much more budget friendly. I ended up taking everything off of the macy’s registry and replacing the things with stuff from the other three places.

their sales are good and people like to use their card/discounts, but some of the items (e.g. the crystal gifts) are absurd…

Just a heads up – I went into my Macy’s registry today and over half the items are showing as soon to be discontinued. We’re talking Calphalon, Hotel Collection, Martha Stewart …. all sorts of big name items. So when I try to replace the items I’m getting error messages.
I find it hard to believe that so many things all of a sudden are being discontinued so I started a chat with a registry services rep. She told me they’re having issues with the website and that’s why so many things are showing discontinued and unable to add new items.
I don’t know if this applies to you, but wanted to share!

There has to be some kind of a glitch — there’s no way they’d discontinue their signature towels, right?

Thanks for that info. Hopefully Macy’s will fix the glitch soon…however, my shower is next weekend so I don’t want to take the chance. I took a bunch of the “unavailable” and “discontinued” items off Macy’s and added to BBB. There are still about 20 items left on the Macy’s for guests who prefer that store for whatever reason…
If we end up getting Macy’s gift cards, we could use them to buy some of the BBB items that are left unpurchased.
Still wishing I never registered at Macy’s…grrr. 🙂

I registered at Macy’s and BBB for some of the same items to allow for guests to choose where to purchase them. I just managed my registry carefully so that the day eight place settings of china were purchased through Macy’s, I quickly removed eight place settings from my BBB registry. Likewise, when I saw that two more place settings had been purchased at BBB, I removed them from the Macy’s registry, etc. This turned out really well for me, except that I somehow accidentally deleted one too many items from one of the registries, since both showed that all of my place settings had been purchased, but I only ended up receiving 15 of my 16 place settings. I didn’t mind, however, since it’s unlikely that I will need to use all 16 at the same time — at least for now.

@babycakes24: I noticed on my Macy’s registry that some of the things that said “out of stock” weren’t actually out of stock anymore, they just didn’t update it to show that it was back in stock on my registry, if that makes sense. I had to delete the item from my registry and then add it back. So maybe try checking to see if the items are actually out of stock?

Good to hear its a glitch. I’ve run into a problem that I can’t put certain items on my registry at all. What is the sense in that??!

Hey ladies, I called Macy’s today and they told me it’s a problem with the website and should be fixed in the morning. Just FYI. Take it with a grain of salt and keep an eye on it obviously, but their reps say it is the website and it is not actually discontinuations.

Their website does get some glitches but this is that time of year they are getting rid of older items & bringing in new ones. They’re getting ready for a lot of sales & friends & family. Since you also have the bbb registry I would add some items to that.

OMG! I bought myself the bedding I wanted because I thought it was going to be gone!! It was 50% off (still expensive though) so maybe it really is going to be discontinued. But I did notice that like half of my stuff was out of stock or unavailable, I was wondering if it was a glitch. Ugh!!
