I am so flustered!
I originally booked my photographer for 8 hours plus an engagement shoot. On the quotes listed, it said the package for 8 hours was $3300, plus $350 for the engagement shoot and $399 for the keepsake DVD.
My Fiance and I are running a jewelry store so we have decided an engagement shoot is not necessary since we would have to close down for the day and we really need to be open.
My photographer said it would be fine to put the credit of the engagement shoot/dvd towards extra hours with the photographer or towards the album, which is what I wanted.
When I asked her to elaborate on how much the credit was, she told me that the DVD was actually free and that they had also given me 5% off the wedding package of $4300 dollars. So basically my credit was for $300.00 dollars and the price of the DVD would not be credited.
Well, shoot, I am super confused because the package quoted to me was $3300 and with the engagement shoot and dvd, the price came to $4049, which is EXACTLY what my contract is for.
While browsing my emails, I even noted that she had said they don’t start applying discounts until packages are around $5500 and if I wanted a DVD with our clean images, the price of $750.00 would make the package I wanted $4750.
Basically, she makes NO SENSE because a discount was never discussed! I didn’t even meet with them before booking (much to my fellow bee’s chagrin) and didn’t qustion any of their prices. I simply calculated $3300 + $350 + $399. And that price was reflected in my contract. No questions asked.
I don’t know if she is trying to pull a fast one on me. If the package was even $4300 dollars to begin with minus 5% it would still be $4089, so it seems like she is lying or being dishonest.
At this point, I’m just venting (hope you bee’s understand). Not looking to be reprimanded for not meeting with them first as I wouldn’t be able to forsee this anyway. Blah. The photography they produce is so great, but what a downer.
