I have taken this week off work due to extreme stress, which my colleagues knew about and encouraged. Over the weekend, I have felt my tense muscles relax, knowing that I don’t have to worry about work all week!
But….I just got a message from one of my colleagues asking about some appointments that are booked in tomorrow. OMG. Frustrated. I have no idea about the appointments because I didn’t book them, also, I’m not right in front of the book so I have no damn idea what he’s talking about! Is it too much to ask that someone else figure it out?! I’ve earned a break! I’m trying to think of a polite way to tell him to ask the person who made the appointments…

I wouldn’t even answer him back. It is your week off, a vacation…you deserve a break too. I don’t know what you do, but there has to be someone else there he can ask?
Relax and don’t sweat it.

I either wouldn’t respond, if you’re comfortable with that, or just reply with something like, “I’m out of the office this week, but please ask [person in the office who would know].”
When I’m on vacation I put an away message on my email and just don’t check anything. If there’s an emergency, I ask people to call me, and then I deal with it as quickly as possible. THey shouldn’t be bugging you while you’re out, and you shouldn’t even have to think about work. Maintain those boundaries!
