I jokingly said “diamonds” the first year Darling Husband and and I were together. And I ended up with a diamond necklace and diamond promise ring (my birthday is 4 days after Christmas so I got one for each).

@michkarose: “There really is nothing that I “need” or “want” for Christmas”

This is exactly how I feel. I asked my SO what he wanted for Christmas. He said to let him think about it. But then of course he turns around and asked me what I wanted then said other than “for me to put a ring on it”. LOL…Well at least you know! ๐Ÿ™‚ My response was “That’s it. Honestly that’s all I want”… Easy enough. I’m glad he responded that way so I didn’t have to be in the ackward position. We’ll see what happens. Hopefully it comes on or b4 Christmas. I don’t think I can take opening a gift that isn’t my engagement ring. I don’t want to be mean or selfish but I’d rather he not spend money on anything but that. Since part of our waiting is “financial” and him needing to save and purchase the ring.  Good Luck with your response.

I’m with you ladies, the only thing I really want for Christmas is to finally be engaged to my SO. He hasn’t even asked me yet what I would like, I think it might be because he already knows what I want. I like rosegirl’s answer, tell him you want something sparkly and hopefully he gets the hint. It’s hard not to come out and just say you want a ring and not feel like you’re pressuring him into it you know? Good luck and hope he gets the hint ๐Ÿ˜‰

Oh you are so cute!! And so is your man, the halo comment, “wedding hardware”….adorable! Hon he’s clearly already planning on buying your ring, I wouldn’t worry about it! He probably was expecting you to hint at a ring when he asked the question, so I actually think you should throw him off a little and just say something coy and unrelated, like, “Oh I dunno, maybe (name of your ‘child’ pony, lol) needs a sister!!” Heheh!

I know how you feel! Last Christmas, we went on a trip to a cute little town nearby, and I thought for sure he was going to do it then since we had been together for 2 years. But nope…he kept me waiting until February. Don’t worry, just hang in there, and when it happens it’ll be great! ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t get a ring when my Fiance proposed. I just used my promise ring until we could afford an actual engagement ring. When he asked me that year I told him, “I just want to be happy.” He made me happy alright! lol

@michkarose:  My boyfriend has been threatening to propose with a ring pop for YEARS.  I’m pretty sure he’s actually going to do it, wait for an answer, and then give me the real ring.

ARGH.  The holidays just need to be over and done with so I don’t have to think about all this anymore!
