Omggggg I am SO embarrassed!! I moved into a new apartment complex 2 months ago, and I accidentally just burst into my neighbors apartment by mistake!!! She gave a little scared shriek and her dog started barking – and in true buddy the elf style I covered my eyes and ran out the door shouting “SORRY!!”…not sure why that was my reaction….
Seriously, what should I do!?! Write a note apologizing? Pretend It never happened? Ahh not sure what to do…I’ve never met her but our patios are rightnext to each other so I’m bound to run into her!

My next door neighbor (who actually used to live in the next building), just moved next to me. And he did the same thing, accidentally tried to go inside my apartment, because he’s used to his apartment being on the right side. But luckily our door was locked. lol Maybe that’ll teach them to keep their door locked next time. lol
But I’d say just laught about it and pretend it never happened! lol

If it helps this happend to dh and I at our old apartment…and we were definitely engaged in…ahem..adult behaviour at the time. So it could have been worse.
I would just joke about it next time you see her. It was an honest mistake…writing a note or something might just make it more awkward. Next time you see her in the hall I’d just cover my eyes again and yell “sorry!” like you did as a joke.

@Laur12: Give her enough time to chill, go over there use the BUZZER/KNOCK and apologize. Most people have done something similar at some point, luckily, I had to use a key, so I didn’t actually get in.

@sara_tiara: Hahaha touché….it could have been a lot worse! I need to get a wreath or something for my door to avoid this from ever happening again. It’s a really long hallway and all the doors are identical!!

I have gotten into the wrong car and walked into someone else’s hotel room before, so don’t feel bad. I would just go apologize to her.

Lol!! I think writing a note or knocking on her door would be a nice gesture if you want to! I wouldn’t even have thought of that.
I have to admit it makes me feel better that I’m not the only one who’s done something like this… I live on the 5th floor of an apartment building but I work on the 7th floor of a hospital, so more than one time I have gone and put my key in the apartment on the 7th floor not realizing I pressed 7 in the elevator in a daze!

My friend did this. He walked into the wrong apartment, on the wrong floor. The lady was totally spooked!
He was mortified!
I vote you go with the wreath! Definately one that will make you smile every day 🙂

I have done this before, I try to make sure we have some sort of decoration on my door. It also makes it so that our neighbors don’t walk into our apartment. Now I have to figure out what to do for thanksgiving…

Okay, after I tell you my most embarrassing story ever you won’t feel so bad about this. Have you ever thought that someone is a person you’re with or that you know, but it turns out they are actually just a stranger? Well my younger sister and I were at the mall, and she kept running up behind me and scaring me. Well, the last time I caught her thinking I could stop her by just lightly back-handing her in the nose without turning around. WASN’T MY SISTER. It was just some random lady who was going to ask me a question! I just looked at her, said SORRY! and ran.

Hahaha that’s like a scene from a movie.. she probably had a laugh about your reaction (when she got over her initial shock) I wouldn’t feel bad about it 🙂

@Artificial-Sweetener: Oooh apology cookies are an even better idea.
