So basically ever since we got engaged there was the question of who would marry us. My fiance was raised Jewish, but is atheist. I was raised Christian but I would consider myself agnostic. Neither of us care about religion right now. His parents REALLY wanted us to get married by a rabbi, but we said we were not comfortable with it. So, the fiance suggested that we have someone we know marry us. At first he was thinking of my uncle who is very good at speeches and the like, but my dad said that my uncle would probably want to be just a guest at our wedding instead of having a role. I could understand that. Well, for a while we were stuck. I started looking into non-religious officiants and celebrants, but I was finding anyone that seemed to fit us. Then, just 2 days ago my fiance tells me one ofhis good friends said he would get certified and marry us!!! He just did his online certification today and I talked to the county and he will legally be able to marry us!!! Im really happy that on the most important day of our lives we will be joined by a friend rather than a stranger. Is anyone else having a friend or family member marry them??
