Hey bees, some of you may remember I was posting awhile back about house hunting and getting pretty frustrated feeling like we’d never find something we loved in our budget and the area we like…well, it finally happened! It took some back and forth between us and the buyer, they were being pretty unreasonable on the final price at first (they didn’t want to go below the price a near-identical house in the neighborhood sold for…but that house had a basement and theirs doesn’t!), and I had resigned myself to walking away even though I loved the house. But when they found out we were going to walk they finally compromised with us, and we’re now going through the closing process on the house!! We should be moved in by mid-May, and I can’t wait! Our current house was bought before I was around, and it’s definitely bachelor pad size, whereas the new house will be a great family home.
It has an open floor plan and is fairly modern looking, the house was just built in 06, which we LOVE! I love everything from the floors ot the paint colors to the light fixtures, we don’t need or want to change a thing about it, which is great! And Darling Husband and I are doing it on our own – if you read my last post you know that his parents wanted to buy it and have us pay rent, which is the arrangement on our current house, and I did NOT want to go down that path again. I want Darling Husband and myself to be the ones with final say over our home. So this time around everything is in our name, and we didn’t even tell anyone about it till we came to an agreement ith the seller and signed the paperwork. Future Mother-In-Law is still carrying on about how it doesn’t have a fence (so? we’ll build one), and no basement which is bad because she says she knows what a wimp I am about tornadoes (gee, thanks for the sarcastic concern, and it’s close to my parents’ house which does have a basement), and it’s not close enough that she can babysit her future grandchildren every day (why on earth she thinks she’ll be my daily babysitter, I have no idea – and it’s only a half hour away), and we should of told her about it first (so she could go look in the windows like she did with the last house when the owners were home, and then tell us why we can’t buy it? I don’t think so!).
We are SOOO psyched, we’ll finally have a nice backyard and a home with enough space for us and any future children, a two-car garage instead of shovelling snow off the cars all winter, and it will be so nice for me because instead of living super close to all his friends and family and an hour away from mine, it’s right inbetween the two. And I’m incredibly relieved that Darling Husband was great about standing up to his parents about us wanting to do this on our own without their money or input.
