We decided to set the date for august of 2014. It seems so far away. I am super excited and want to plan things, but it is so far away. It is too early to buy my dress, book the venue, send out invites… I feel like I have nothing to do. But there is so much to do. Any advice?

Definitely too early to send out invites, and probably too early for a dress (I’d wait until about a year out), but you could probably book your venue now! Some really popular venues book up to a year and a half ahead of time.
ETA: You should start on your guest list now. It is bound to change a little before your wedding, but you can get a feel of how many people you want there, which you will need to know before you book a venue

Photographer! You might be able to get one with lower rates than if you wait until they raise their prices for next year, but also the really good ones book up quickly!

And DJ! Start gathering pictures of inspiration and a must-have photo list (I found tons of pics on Pintrest and then saved them for inspiration later). Also starting a guest list wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Hey, there, know how you feel when you say “too far away”. There’s always a bunch of little things you can get started on!
I’ve been at it a month and we’ve already invested in about $2000 in items for the wedding. We have all of our decor, plates & cutlery, drinking glasses, favors bags, flowers, guest books, flower girl baskets, and probably alot more! Once our tax returns come back we’re going to work on booking our venues & photographer.
It might seem that you’re starting really early, and you are! However, my venue was already booked for my original wedding date 10-31-14, and the two weekends before and after!

@elizabethwaklee: I feel the same way but we’ve been trying to knock some of the bigger items out of the way. We started our guest list and showed it to family. We have also visited our favorite venues and currently deciding between two. I also purchased my dress but I never really had a dream dress like other women so it was an easier decision for me.
