@agirlwithdreams7: She could be short on $$ or maybe she doesnt like the headpiece on etsy and doesnt want to tell you that. My mom cant STAND birdcage veils, even though I think theyre kinda quirky, she would have a stroke if I wore one. Why not just order it yourself and save yourself the hassle?

I think your mom and my mom would be GREAT friends! My dad was supposed to pay for the wedding, but my grandpa ended up moving in with my parents and selling his house…so now he’s paying for the wedding with his sale profits. And, of course, now I’m stealing her “inheritance”…ugh! Give me a break.

Anyway, if you have a planner of can assign BMs/GMs for Mom duty on the day/week of, do it! I want my mom to “feel” like she’s the center of attention so I don’t have to deal with either a) her pity party b) her criticism c) her drinking d) all of the above. I’ve told just about everyone I can to make sure she has the feeling that she’s just too busy to talk with me and that she’s just overwhelmed by how many people are thanking her and welcoming her etc.

Ridiculous how far we have to go to have some peace sometimes…

Why don’t you call her out, and when she makes a remark, say something like, “Mom, this is MY wedding day. I need to get things done now, whereas you have months to figure something out. Can’t we just focus on what I need right now?”. Or, just stop involving her in what you are doiing, since she obviously doesn’t share your views on things
