- Wedding: September 2013
My FI’s grandmother, a former florist, has offered to do our wedding flowers as her gift to us. She did the flowers for my Future Sister-In-Law, who said they were nice — and free is always good.
Well, almost always. I asked him to email a photo of flowers that I liked to her — primarily for the colors (as inspiration — I haven’t committed to “colors” yet, bu ti like a more muted palette) since I have no idea what, if anything, in the photo would be in-season. She sent back a list of in-season flowers “off the top of her head” — and every single flower on the list would be considered standard in a bouquet that you’d buy in a supermarket.
My first reaction was “oh sh*t,” but I’m hoping that maybe I’ll just have to be specific in my requests and possibly buy some of the flowers so she can arrange them. Just a few questions:
- How should I approach this without seeming ungrateful?
- What wedding-ish flowers are available in mid-September?
- Personally, how would you weigh free florals vs. your ideal flowers?
On top of the wedding, the honeymoon is pricy & we’re saving for a house.
