Fiance and I are going to dinner with some friends and then going to watch fireworks at midnight. We are meeting them at 8. He’s already drinking. He filled up his flask as well. He’ll most likely have a huge DosXX at dinner. Seriously? I asked him what time he planned on stopping drinking. he said at midnight. Uh, I don’t think so. He can be so irresponsible sometimes. I will be taking his keys from him I suspect.

Oh yeah he should not be driving if he is already drinking.

Always good to have a backup plan for situations like this. We usually put my dad “on call” as he rarely even partakes of one cocktail, so I always know that he is there for those situations. I just usually call him and ask him if he will be our “on call” driver if we need it and he has never had an issue with it, he has done this ever since I was a teenager.

Nothing wrong with having fun but yeah, definitely get those keys asap.

What time did he start drinking, lol? Geez does he not drink often or is this more normal than you’d like? Be safe tonight!

I feel you. I have only seen my Fiance drunk 2 times and that was 2 x’s too many.

Yea… I think I’d go ahead and grab those keys! Or call a taxi for the night. =)

I hope you grabbed the keys – enjoy the fireworks, that sounds great!

Fiance finally came to his senses and didn’t drink anymore last night. He had one small beer at dinner and then that was it. We had a bit of a fight about it, but I’m glad he did the right thing in the end. I hope everyone had a great night last night!

Does he have a history of alcohol abuse? I only ask because it’s New Years Eve, one of the biggest drinking nights of the year. As long as he was being responsible, I guess I just don’t see the harm in throwing back a few.

@UpstateCait: Oh gosh no. He hardly drinks at all. I was concerned b/c we were going to be out and driving around. If we were sitting at home, I wouldn’t mind at all!

Just curious. Can’t you drive? If he hardly ever drinks & he wanted to drink & have fun were you not able to drive?
