- Wedding: May 2013
It’s a long (and boring ish) story but we’re doing the non-traditional venue route and going with a local park that has a beautiful barn pavilion. Residents of that particular town can reserve any park’s pavilion on Sept 1st for events taking place the following year. Non-residents have to wait till 1/1 of the year they want to reserve something in. I was a resident of that town my whoooole life… until last year. Since we wanted a May wedding, waiting till Jan to have a date is out of the question. Everything else with a similar barn/outdoor/semi-rustic vibe in this area is either 6x the price or higher (yes, SIX times the price!) or the other pavilion/unique venues in the area that are of a similar budget are just plain old pavilions and not pretty or unqiue. So, you can see how badly we wanted this particular venue.
I found out yesterday that, for a multitude of reasons, they’re approving us as a resident, which means we can book on 9/1, which is plenty enough time and that means we can have our dream venue 🙂
