@SimplyEuphoric:  This is an estimate of the absolute total cost, since we still have another 8 months or so to go.  When I add everything up, it’s looking like our wedding, excluding rings and honeymoon, will cost a grand total of approximately $33,000-$34,000.  Which makes me want to barf.

Granted, the vast majority of that is for venue (including premium open bar, cocktail hour, all the food, and the cake).  That accounts for roughly $19,000.  Which is INSANE considering we chose one of the lower-priced venues in my area and have what I would consider a medium-sized guest list (150 max).

The rest is going to photography, DJ, limo, church donations, my dress, the favors, flowers, bridesmaid gifts, minimal other decor, photobooth, and our cocktail hour musicians.  I am DIY’ing my favors and half of our centerpieces, as well any other decor we’ll need/want, and our vendors are average-priced for our area–we went for quality but not over the top.  The amount also DOES include a rehearsal dinner–FI thinks his parents might like to cover that for us, which would be fabulous, but I’m not counting on it.

Needless to say, we would absolutely, positively NOT be having this type of wedding without the generosity of my parents.  They’re taking care of probably 75% of the total cost, with Fiance and I kicking in the difference and then paying for the honeymoon and rings.  Without their help, we still would have had a beautiful wedding, but it would have had to be either destination or backyard (which would have been fine with me!), but I think it was important to my parents that we have a traditional wedding.

ETA:  A friend of mine is getting married and both his and his FI’s families are ENORMOUS.  They are having an outdoor barn wedding with a big old BBQ.  Afterwards they are inviting everyone to set up tents and camp out overnight.  They’re going to have a number of fire pits and drinking and hot dogs and s’mores.  To me, that sounds perfect!

Ours was just over $5000. It would have been a lot more had we not won a photography package and our friends and family members weren’t the jack of all trades (chef, seamstress, carpenter, event planner, wannabe dj, graphic designer and wine maker).

My elopement and weddingmoon cost under 10K. My vow renewal will also be under 10K, though we are making it fancy for a small group.

When I was engaged, we were planning on having a big wedding. However, I wanted to throw up when I saw how much it would cost.

I just can’t justify spending a house payment on one goddamn day, especially since a wedding does not define a marriage. I know a lot of women feel like they MUST have big expensive weddings, but I am not that person. I prefer small and intimate gatherings.

Our wedding cost about $10,500 (not including rings or honeymoon) for 85 guests. With rings and honeymoon we spent around $17,000.

The average for our area is about $16,000 just for a wedding. We had a great time and barely spent over that with the honeymoon and rings included.

Around 13k for 35 guests. That does not include my ring or the honeymoon. But we splurged on a 5 course dinner and open bar.

Our wedding cost just under $100k not including rings or honeymoon. I live in NYC. the biggest expenses were the catering hall, my dress and the band.
