And I bought nothing on my recent poll, for those who chimed in. Thanks for your input over there on that thread though!
I decided to hit local stores and just see… and at the end of today I went to Shoe Carnival (never been there in my life) because I just happened to be going to take a short trip through hell (aka WalMart) out of necessity and it is right next to it. Honestly I was fed up, up to HERE, with shoe shopping and had hit several stores today and seriously doubted this place would have ANYTHING white and close toed and not sky high stiletto. I’d already decided I’d just get leather if I had to, if they met those criteria! Just today, after my classes, I’d been to DSW, Beall’s, Ross, David’s Bridal, a local private bridal shop, Sears, Target, and 2 thrift stores!! That’s after spending most of last weekend scouring the internet for something.
So, I ended up with basic white patent leather Mary Janes with a 2.5 inch heel and round toe. Yay! I was hesitant about patent leather in the past but then I reasoned, these shoes (well, minus the heel) in some variation got me through every Easter and every dressy event (including my brother’s wedding) from age 2 to age 10 or so. If they worked for all that then they will work for this! I had it in my head that patent wasn’t bridal but whatever!
And there’s some comfort in the familiarity. Plus, mary janes in some form or fashion are kind of my “signature” shoe. I have a ton, some very retro, some very modern, from red patent leather to brown and tan leather, to matte black, to black patent “wing tip” style, to black suede, etc. I either wear converse, mary janes, or pirate-y boots in my day to day life. So they are very “me”. 🙂 And I LOVE the stable heel!
I can wear them later too. Whew. I am SO FREAKING GLAD to be done with that. I was actually starting to hate shoe shopping!! The horrors!
Oh and they were on sale and $29. 🙂 Much glossier in real life.
