My bf and I have started talking proposals and we had a pretty emotionally charged conversation during which I told him that I had a family diamond I would like to use for sentimental and financial reasons. So, last night, I actually got the courage up to give him the heirloom diamond and a picture of my dream ring (complete with notes I took on what I wanted.) Guess what? He was super, super excited! He was happy because he said he had no idea what to get me. He loves the picture of my ring and he told me that, while he wants it to be a surprise, I can def. expect a proposal some time this summer. I just hugged him and dropped it. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

@AmeliaBedelia: Thanks! I thought he would be really excited about getting the diamond (that it would take financial pressure off since he only needs to buy a band and side stones) BUT he seemed way, way more excited about the picture of what I wanted! It made me realize just how scared most men are of pleasing us and just how clueless they are when it comes to these things. lol! He just kept saying how he was relieved because he had no idea what I wanted and how much pressure it is to pick out something I would like. I guess it makes sense since he even has a hard time picking out his own shirts at Kohls.

soo lucky! i’m sure your guy was definitely relieved to get that kind of direction in terms of what you wanted in a ring style. guys do want to make sure they get us something we would love because its something that we’ll be wearing for a very, very long time. at least that’s how my mister explained it to me. he wanted me to be happy with the ring and if i wasn’t, he wouldn’t be happy either.
