@ASH.:  He’s cheating and lying. At first he started to deny it could have been he saw it and put in his pocket and then suddenly decided to snap up that lame excuse as cover…definitely cheating.

That’s pretty funny! I used to always wonder how people just FORGOT certain things….and now, at 30 years old, I get it.

@drummerbride:  I can’t help but feel that this comment is uncalled for. The OP knows her husband, and if she knows that this is something that he does and that he has a terrible memory, then that is what it is. Obviously she is not a bit suspicious and if this scenario wasn’t something that her husband would do, then she would be. But she’s not, and we don’t know their relationship, so to call someone a liar and a cheater without knowing the relationship or the people is uncalled for.

@Mrs. Doily:  I don’t see Drummer’s comment as uncalled for. The delivery might be a have been a little harsh, but I think she’s only trying to help shed light on the oddity of the situation here.  Love can be blind and sometimes outsiders see things you don’t when you’re in the relationship.  I have to agree with Drummer and think the whole situation is still a little fishy.  It’s not like he offered up the fact he forgot he put it in his pocket.  She brought up the possibility of that happening and he agreed with her idea.  She led him straight to the water.

@MrsWBS:  There have been plenty of times where I have not been able to recall what I did with something or where something came from until DH has brought up possible scenarios, it doesn’t mean that I’m cheating or lying. It just means that I have an awful memory, which I do.

WOW! Even though it’s CZ, I think it’s an awesome story (and a really pretty stone!!)…

@Mrs. Doily:  While I think it’s perfectly plausible that someone is forgetful about details, I just don’t see someone forgetting that they randomly found a possible diamond. If he was excited enough to pick it up he would have been excited enough to tell her all about the possible diamond he found as soon as he spoke with her. That’s like learning you won something awesome (lotto, house, car, etc)  and then forgetting about it after the fact and not even claiming it. Not very likely.

I agree with previous posters. The OP called him and said she found a stone – no real reaction. She then sent him a picture of it – his reaction was excitement at how large it was (if he had found it a few days earlier wouldn’t this trigger a memory?)

He then gets home, sees it, gets it valued at a jewler and THEN remembers he found it & put it in his pocket?

I’m not saying he’s cheating but the whole situation is fishy. Oh, and your husband may need his memory tested if that is the case.

Have you seen the cartoon “flushed away,” and if so, do you remember the ruby? That’s what this story is reminding me of 🙂

It’s good that your husband has such a perceptive eye that he noticed that CZ on the ground or wherever it was. He saw something that was out of the ordinary, and went to investigate. This time it was a CZ, but next time…maybe not!

While I don’t know or obviously can’t say for sure, if it were my Fiance I’d still be a bit weary about the situation. Honestly, even after the wife found the stone yesterday, mentioned it too hubby, discussed what it was and getting it evaluated and pondered where it came from, he STILL didn’t remember picking up the stone and putting it in his pocket?? Like really? If that’s the case, I suggest not letting him be in charge of picking up any children from school or the babysitters, he might just plum forget? It’s also the fact that OP had to basically give her husband the story before he actually “remembered”. It all sounds really funny to me.

BUT, op knows her husband better then anyone, so if she’s satisfied then that’s all that matters.
