…and I want to cry. I’ve been looking at a few vendors that we are likely going to go with and some places I have an estimate of prices and others a more firm price. I didn’t think it was too bad until I wrote it all out together and now I’m sad. Hopefully I can talk the price down when I go meet with vendors.
Anybody else care to share their budget woes?

I hear you. Every time I look at my wedding spreadsheet I want to cry. Never in my life thought we’d spend this much on a wedding!! Fortunately our parents are paying 85% of the cost, but still… we could feed a lot of kids in Africa for that! I don’t really know how some brides do it on the budgets they’ve got–there are some spectacularly creative bees on here who manage to pull off amazing weddings on amazing budgets.

The first few weeks – mostly looking at numbers – was awful.
Have you made a priority list? That will help you decide where to scale back as you get vendor proposals.
Is there a way to simplify? I was going nuts trying to calculate the “hidden” costs of linen/dish/etc rentals, and eventually we decided to go with a restaurant for the ceremony and reception because it was the same amount as other venues but included more.
Do you really want what you think you want? We started pricing higher end entrees, and then I realized that several family members.. well.. they just can’t eat the seafood dishes we like to enjoy. So I cut them out in favor of food everyone can have.
It’ll be ok!! Don’t worry!
