I’d stick with the 30 Day Shred (no harm in skipping level one, but if you are feeling sore, it means it’s doing something, so I’d tend to just keep at it for the 10 days) and then once you’re done, move on to No More Trouble Zones.
Don’t skip days on the shred unless you absolutely have to – otherwise it will be too easy.
I started the 30 Day Shred at the end of March and did it pretty much straight through. I lost 9 lbs and who knows how many inches (I couldn’t find a tape measure). After completing it I began her No More Trouble Zones, which is a lot more intense and a longer workout – I did that for about 30 ish days and lost another 3 lbs, and this time I lost about 1.5-3 inches from my waist, arms, thighs, butt, etc. Now I’m switching it up again and I’ll try a different workout of hers – this will prevent the plateau, hopefully.
ETA: OOps. I forgot to mention about rest days. I took a phisiology and personal training course in university and the idea of rest days is for the muscles to repair themselves so that you can build them. With Jillian’s workouts you aren’t trying to build muscle, but instead become more lean, and you don’t need the rest. Rest days also help to shorten your gym time (so you are there for 1 hour vs. 2 if you tried to do both upper and lower body, etc.) so that you do half your workout one day and the other half the alternating day. It provides a day of rest and also allows you to shorten your workouts.

That is my plan too. I think I bought 6 videos, so I hope that if I mix it up enough, it will be enough. I am really excited to do Shred it with Weights (I hate cardio, lol). I don’t know much about the plateau concept, but I would hope switching up the videos will work because I don’t want to think of my own stuff 😛

You should be fine. I did 30DS and then switched back and forth between Killer Abs and Killer Buns & Thighs, then started Yoga Meltdown and then started Ripped in 30. Once I get through Ripped in 30, I might start over and add in Yoga Meltdown or see if I need more focus abs or lower body.

@MrsPanda99: I am almost done with the 30DS. This morning I did day 4 of level 3. I have gone straight through with no rest days. Usually I would feel sore for the first 1-3 days of a level, then all of a sudden, my body would just get with the program and adapt to the workout. By days 8, 9, and 10 of each level I can do all of the moves. No matter how many days I have done a level though I am always sweating like crazy when I am done. Jillian really knows how to whip people into shape!

Do you like Yoga Meltdown? Have you tried Cardio Kickboxing?

I do like Yoga Meltdown. I remember researching it and finding blog posts whining about how people hated it because Jillian is “harshing the zen vibe.” No shit? It’s called Yoga Meltdown
, not Yoga For Zen Vibes. Also? It’s Jillian Michaels. I haven’t tried the kickboxing one–too much cardio for my asthma.

OP, I’m so glad you started this thread. I bought 30 Day Shred tonight and I plan on starting day one tomorrow! 🙂
If this goes well, I will buy the rest of Jillian Michaels’ videos.
