Definitely worth taking it to a seamstress to ask right?  The only real problem I can forsee is that there will be a bit of a hole where buttony thing holds the pickup if you took them down.

im sure it can be done, but i was also thinking there will be holes where you take the picks-up out. but if there are, maybe you can think about adding some pearls or something to the same spot?? just an idea…maybe it will help. let us know if it comes out good or not.

While it completely depends on how much you want to pay, and the type of seamstress you see, it actually is do-able. I actually know someone who had the exact same issue as you do. First she asked if a few of them could be removed, and then decided it would look better without any “pick-ups”. 

However! If you’d feel better not spending the money on this dress and buying a new one, go ahead!!!

EDIT: It can be done without any holes or remnants!
