Not to get your hopes up or anything but maybe he knew you were going to peak in the box and hide the ring somewhere? When my SO gave me my first promise ring (forever ago), he switched out the ring and put a necklace he had bought from walmart in there and gave it to me. He took pictures while I was looking at the necklace and what not and then started laughing.. and gave me the real box. But I actually thought the necklace was really nice!!

Bummer. I also thought that we were going to get engaged on our (7 year!) anniversary. We even took a trip down to where we met. It was the perfect set-up for an engagement! But…nothing. A month later, he proposed. When I told him that I’d thought it was coming on our anniversary, he was like, “Oh wow, yeah that would have been perfect. Whoops.” …What a fool.

But I think you should talk to him about it, and I DEFINITELY think you should take a solo trip! Have a discussion with him and set up a timeline together. My SO was dragging his feet a bit because he didn’t know what kind of ring to get me (I had told him “No diamonds!” so he was confused). Talk with him and then immediately hop on a plane and go away by yourself. Give him some time to miss you and work on getting his proposal together! 🙂

@MissFireFlower:  Awwww, that sucks, but you got a lovely necklace. I’ve gotten alot of necklaces & earrings from Matt and one ring that was part of a set. That was my birthday gift. Well, at least he’s on the right track now LOL!!!!
