Okay so I went almost a month ago to DB and found my dress! I love it so much! It’s vw351166 <3. So the lady URGED me to buy it now saying even thought its a brand new dress “Vera never goes on sale! LIKE EVER!” “You should buy it today because this dress is so unpopular that it will be discontinued soon!” it takes 2-3 Months for your dress to come so order now and ill give you $75.00 off!” So I bought it, trusting her. So two days ago I got an email Saying my dress is in ad to pick it up. I was so surprised because she told me to order it cause it wouldn’t come until the end of July. it has only been 3 weeks. So I was like okay whatever I’m happy now I have my dress! So I picked it up, the next day (yesterday) I get an email. “White by Vera wang sale” WHAT?? So I open the email and click the link to the website, where it says my dress is 200 off! Oh heck no! So I call the DB I went to and explained and she told me that she can’t do anything because its past 12 days!!! I am so upset! I lost trust in DB and now am looking for a different place for alterations. I could have bought my veil with that 200$… I called corporate and am waitin for them to call back.

Usually when you buy something I think you have 30days to bring it back and get reimbursed if it goes on sale, try google-ing it I think you can find something online about buyer protection, but that might just be for regular items, not sure if wedding dresses count. The 12 days they mentioned sound odd to me, and especially when you explain that you were urged to buy because it wont go on sale they should reimburse you, do you know the name of the person who told you this? or the day you went in so they can check who was working?

@lovemyfiance882: that really sucks, it really does…but, I don’t see them doing much about it. I’m sure the first thing they’ll say is “the sales rep had no idea it would be going on sale.” I hope you luck out and manager throws you a bone as a goodwill move.

Did you buy it with a credit card? Mine has a thing where they’ll give you a refund of the difference if something you buy goes on sale for more than $25 off within 45 days. Don’t know if it would apply to wedding dresses, but worth looking into.

Maybe they won’t give you a price adjustment, but perhaps they will agree to give you a free or discounted veil in the same amount. I would try that approach if getting a price adjustment isn’t an option.

I know when I went to DB to try on dresses, I asked if there was a certain time of year, etc to buy because sales would be going on, and the associate told me that they are never told of sales ahead of time because they could use it to their advantage to get extra commission or something. She knew I wasn’t buying that day, and told me that I would just have to look out for sales. I guarantee your associate didn’t know the Vera would be going on sale shortly, and she just said those things to make sure she got her commission, like any other salesperson.

@Minou_Bear: yeah you would think 30 days right? its only been three weeks i bought it on april 11. I have the ladys name on my receipt
@kgirl91: we paid debit
@Brielle: yeah when they call me back and if they wont give me the $200 then im going to ask for the matching veil that is $200 that i didnt buy because i didnt have enough…

It sucks, but theres no point in being mad at the consultant for it. Most employees arent told beforehand about sales.
I agree about asking if you could get a veil for that $200 though.

When i went to DB the sales consultant said the same thing to me. “If you don’t buy now, it could be gone next week!” “Dresses get discontinued all the time without notice!” I was so close to buying a dress even tho my wedding was well over a year away because I didn’t want the dress to be discountiuned and gone forever! I didn’t end up buying from them and half of the dresses I tried on are still being sold, two years later. It’s really terrible they won’t refund you the difference, especially since the consultant told you VW NEVER goes on sale. Which is a lie because I’ve seen the VW dresses on sale on the DB website.

Yay! I’m so happy the lady from corporate called me back and is crediting me back my money! Only thing is I have to go back to that store to use it. But oh well I got my veil now 🙂

DB makes me mad.. They pressured me into a dress that was only so-so on me because “the sale was over the next day”… Let me just say, that sale is STILL going and it was 2 months ago! I thankfully was able to return it since I had put it on layaway, but they still charged me $85 for cancellation. RIDICULOUS.
Ok, rant over 🙂
SO glad they helped you out!

Ugh I hate when they do that. My DB consultant said VW’s dresses never go on sale except for the discontinued stuff, and I believed her. I got that VW sale email too recently and even though I didn’t buy a dress from the Spring line it irked me a little.
I also hate it when they pull the sales pressure tactic on you. My friend had the sales pitch like “oh the sale will end tomorrow just buy it now!” Six months later the dress is still ‘on sale’ for $599.99… -_-
Glad you got some compensation back though! 🙂

@MeiFrancis: see I dnot know about that part because I told the lady $200 Off Sale and didn’t mention the 75 already taken off so unless the manager looks it up I should be getting 200! 🙂 but either way its fine. 🙂
