Hi Bees! So I just wanted to give those who have read my previous posts an update. A lot of good things are happening for my SO and I both financially and professionally. We talked about our progress this weekend and we are both happy (and rather surprised) with how much money we’ve each saved and how generally happy we both are. SO then said the words I’ve been waiting to hear (lol…not THOSE words)….”I have $5,000 saved in the bank”. This was the magic number that he gave me back in January when we first started talking about getting engaged/married.
So what does this mean? It means he is taking things VERY seriously now. He has asked that we totally cutback on spending the next couple of months and start looking for more free or budget-friendly things to do so that he doesn’t dip into his savings. We have each invested in a few board and video games to keep ourselves entertained indoors and plan on doing a lot of bike riding/roller blading this summer (which is awesome since we are both trying to lose weight). He also keeps saying that he is not spending any of his savings except to buy one big thing for me (SQUEEEE!!!!). He also asked me if I prefer to go ring shopping and pick out my own ring, which is how he would prefer to do it. I said JUST TELL ME WHEN! LOL!
Also, remember a few posts back I was upset because he was spending all of his money on expensive items and planning trips over the summer and whatnot? Well, I asked him if we were still planning on traveling to FL this summer to visit his parents and he said “not sure yet, they know I’ve got some big plans coming up so they understand money is tight”. Also, his mom can’t keep a secret to save her life and I’ve noticed she’s been calling me a lot less (she used to call several times a week)….wonder if mom knows something I don’t. LOL!
However, the most substantial progress comes with this question that SO posed about 2 weeks ago: “I really want us to be married by next summer but Vegas is looking too expensive. What do you think about getting married at an AI in Jamaica? We can afford to do that by next July.” For the first time in months, SO was seriously considering what he envisioned for our wedding day. He even said he preferred the idea of hanging with our nearest and dearest for a few days in paradise, as opposed to for a few hours (in between slot pulls…lol). I NEARLY DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN! I managed to maintain my composure and said it sounded good and I would look into it. As of last night, we agreed Iberostar Montego Bay was the place for us!
I’m just so excited with my life right now! I have a wonderful man who I love and that loves me and we are FINALLY taking those steps towards starting a family together. I can honestly say I’m still ENJOYING this waiting process, especially more so now that we have a more concrete plan.
Just imagine, ladies…I could have a ring by the end of this summer (our 3 year anniversary is August). Anyway, thanks for letting me share my good news. It feels good to be this happy on a Monday morning.
