Hi bee.. sorry to hear about this! The picture you posted is very small so I can’t see the crack and can’t give any advice. Can you post a clearer picture please?

Okay so from what I’ve read around here is that the more included a diamond is the more it effects the strength of the stone making it more suceptible to cracks.

Maybe a more knowledgeable bee can give you some advice. Sorry about your stone!

Heavily included diamonds are going to be at much higher risk of cracking, cleaving, or breaking.

Maybe you could have it carefully reset into a pendant so you could still wear it for sentimental value?

pierce2019 :  Yes unfortunately having work done on a ring with a heavily included stone is taking a risk (and most jewelers won’t assume responsibility) because of the tools, heat and pressure that have to be used on the setting. Even if your center stone were to get loose at some point, tightening the prongs could even cause something like that. 🙁 I would definitely replace it with a more solid stone with a higher clarity grade and put that one away as a keepsake. So sorry this happened bee!

pierce2019 :  Sounds like going with a white diamond is your best bet here, bee, and don’t waste anymore time feeling guilty about it.

I’m really sorry this happened – it totally sucks.

Super disappointed for you. This stone was so cool and pretty. The crack is really bad, I’m so sorry. I would probably just go with a round stone in that setting. Seems like it would fit the best without having to do as much work on the setting.

My stone has a chunk out of the girdle. Instead of a new stone, we had it reset in a beautiful setting that conceals the hole and protects it.

What’s important is that you and your Fiance are HAPPY- BOTH your rings are (were) beautiful!
