I ended up finding my perfect wedding dress RIGHT after getting engaged, while my Fiance was out of town. I decided not to tell him right away b/c I knew he would be like “YOU FOUND IT ALREADY :O” and he would also spend the next 1+ year asking me what it looked like a billion times.
Well, I almost broke down and told him about yesterday afternoon (a month after getting it), just b/c I had this feeling that I should tell him! Well, I resisted (got interrupted right before I told him), and of course two hours later at my grandparents house my mom just blabbed right out to everyone “oh yeah she already found her dress”. THANKS MOM! Of course he was surprised, but luckily not mad that i didn’t tell him when I explained that I didn’t want him to know what it looked like! Still, NOT the way I wanted it to all down. Moral of the story – just tell them ask its happenling lol.
Of course my mom acted all confused for like 30 seconds when I was like “MOM!!”, even though SHE fully knew that my Fiance didn’t know!!

You’re better than me! I considered keeping it a secret for, oh, one day.
And then I realized that whenever R asked about what happened with the dress (I had told him I found one on the ‘Bee that I wanted, but wasn’t positive I was going to buy) I would have to lie to him – and that just didn’t sit well with me! I know lying for a surprise is different, but he is the one person that I’m always honest with. So the first time he brought it up I came clean.
Good thing I don’t believe in bad luck! He’s bound to see it in our tiny apartment within the next two years.

That is EXACTLY why I was about to tell him yesterday – it didn’t bug me TOO much just not saying anything about it, but we were out shopping and he casually mentioned something about how I’d also have to worry about finding a dress and if I was stressed about it. Once I knew he was thinking about it (and would be asking me questions about it!) I figured it was best to just let him know.
Of course he asked me a zillion questions about it, but so far I resisted and told him it was a mini dress that was baggy hehe 😉

That’s funny! When I found my dress, I texted my Fiance right away just to give him a hard time. He doesn’t even want to talk about it, because he claims that if the thinks about my dress too much, then he’ll start having dreams about it LOL. My Fiance is very superstitious and traditional; he doesn’t want to see my dress or know anything about what it looks like, except to be assured that the dress is white!

Whenever he asks, tell him very seriously that you’re wearing a BLACK dress, and eventually he’ll just give up and stop asking…

Yeah, my Fiance isn’t superstitious at all, plus he’s from a different country where the traditions are somewhat different, so he doesn’t really get why he can’t know hehe.
BUT, he’ll move on and stop asking about it pretty quickly 🙂

i did what jenbrandner said, i’d always tell him something funny about my dress and he never knew if i was kidding or not. like if we saw a dress that was funny looking on tv, i’d say “my dress has a big bow like that, only it’s hot pink.” and he’s too smart to make fun of me because if it was true, i’d get upset. by the time the wedding came, he had no clue what was going on with my dress.

My Fiance knew about my dress from the beginning because he paid for it! lol. I bought mine super early too. He didnt seem to care. He was just irritated that I went 800.00 over my budget.

I think you’re overreacting. It’s not like he’s seen your dress, or worse, seen you in your dress!
