Is anyone else nervous about how they will end up looking in their wedding photos? I went to a wedding yesterday and looked at the pics my friend took and I look absolutely ridiculous in all of them. I can’t seem to smile or pose in a way that makes me look natural or good, and even my wedding photographer has said that she will have to ‘work with me’ because I look ‘awkward’ in photos…. 🙁
Any other Bees experienced this? Any tips on how to relax in photos in order to look nice? I’m so sick of leaving for events thinking I look OK, then seeing the photos and feeling ugly, fat and frumpy (I’m pear shaped so I always feel like my thighs and butt look huge).

If you havent already, I would find a photographer who likes to take natural candid shots and that makes you feel at ease. Talk to him/her and explain your predicament, she may have some solutions. Who knows, maybe shell offer to do a few potraits to put your mind at ease. You can also have her do your engagement shoot and see how those come out.

I agree with @leecy87: The key is getting a photographer that takes all the natural shots. They capture real moments and there’s no need to worry about posing!

Oh my god, “Awkward” is my middle name. People tell me I’m pretty and I don’t believe them because THERE IS NO PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF. So I feel ya.
For me, I’ve found it’s 100X better if I can be doing something and get more candid pics, like PP suggested. So in my engagement photos I’m looking adoringly at my Fiance, or talking, or looking away at something – anything but looking straight at the camera! A good photographer will be happy to take 5 minutes in the beginning to give you some pointers, develop a rapport and learn how she/he can set you at ease. And it’s dorky but: have your fiance (or friends) take a camera when you’re hanging out and practice a few poses until they look natural. Even if you never actually use those poses, just having done some “practice” will put your mind at ease and help you tons. 🙂

Thank you for the tips! Yeah, I’ve told the photographer that I’m not comfortable with posed pics and I’d rather she just take photos when I don’t know it’s happening! My Fiance is one of those annoying people who always look good in photos (even his driver’s license) so he doesn’t really get it.
