@WillyNilly:  I really wish I had some suggestions and advice for you!  It does sound frustrating though.  My decision was relatively easy because 1) I never vacation so flying on a plane would be a first for me.  I think I’d have a major panic attack.  2) Cruises sound like so much fun.  The port is close enough to us as well.  I wish we could switch places though because there will be a day I have to fly out there for a cruise to Alaska.  FI is dying to go!

I’m with the PP, I really wish I had some suggestions for you! When I was planning Husband and my honeymoon, I got really frustrated and overwhelmed …and thats how I decided on Disney World. I loved it since everything was taken care of for one price. Done and done.

I need more info on why you won’t do mx? You would probably really enjoy puertoVallarta, tons to do and tons of restaurants. Or what about costa rica or Belize?

We did Fiji. It was far, the tickets were expensive. But you can do a week in Fiji for a pretty decent price if you can get yourself there

I’m feeling overwhelmed too.. so I feel your pain! Fiance has been obsessivly looking up deals on Groupon and Living Social. Although I can’t help much.. we’ve been looking at the caribbean since that’s much closer to us than HI… But even with that.. there are SOOOOOOO many options. ughhh. We’re not going on our Honeymoon until Jan/Feb (when he finally gets vacation time!)

@WillyNilly:  Yeah I heard that about mazatlan which I personally don’t like anyway. PV has a great mix of relaxing and adventuring as well as eating and night life. And I think worldmark has a presence in mx.  Also all inclusive isn’t always a bad thing if it’s well priced which a lot of times in mx or on a timeshare it is. Then you have meals and snacks but can go out for dinner as well and explore.

Of all of Mexico my favorite is the playa del Carmen area. It’s on the gulf side and south of cancun. Also Tons to see there but the town isn’t as easy to get to as it is in pv, depending on where you stay and a lot of the accommodations are large ai resorts. But it’s worth a look for Sure

Buy your tickets now for Los Angeles to wherever, then from your new city to LAX. Mostinternational flights go through there and you’ll save money stopping once anyway!

When you went to Kauai with your ex, where did you stay? Go to the opposite shore of where you stayed last time–either one is going to have lots of VRBO options. Personally I love the North Shore and think Hanalei would be an awesome honeymoon option. Not really a big fan of Maui, for me it’s too close to cheesy resort territory.

Big Island is really nice and gives you tons of different environments to explore–beaches, volcanos, etc…. And again, plenty of rentals. And there’s nothing wrong with Oahu, just stay out of Honolulu if you don’t like that atmosphere. The entire island is not Waikiki. Something up by Haleiwa or over by Lanikai/Kailua would be awesome.

I’ve been to Hawaii twice with my ex, and I’ve been to hawaii with my now husband.  We did go to some of the same places, and stayed at the same timeshare that my parents have.  Granted it wasnt my honeymoon, but my 2 cents is that it wont even matter that you were there before or even stayed in the same place.  You’re there to make new memories, throw in some new things you hadn’t done before.  The places looked familar, but honestly, my ex didnt even come to mind and wasnt associated with those places.

No it’s not creepy to go to the same island as ex boyfriends. NBD. I understand that the honeymoon is THE BIG trip but you can’t let the fact that you went somewhere with your exes keep you from going somewhere…
