@kate169:   It comes from a book that he is said to have ghost authored, but that has never been proven.  In fact, there has never been a single thread of anything that ever linked him to that book.  IMO, it was a rumor that was started by some wackadoo, and that wackadoo could come from either side of the aisle.  They have tried to paint him as a racist for years, even though I think he is wackadoo himself, but I don’t think he is a racist.

I’m no fan of his, but I think it’s something that was taken out of context and spun to make him look racist.

@KatyElle:  Prob right

@kate169:  Alot of what he says or does can be taken out of context.  He is a UBER STRICT Constitutionalist and is prob the most States Rights Congressman on the Hill.  Alot of things that he comes out against is because he thinks it should be up the individual states for just about everything.  He is also a strict Isolationsist and thinks that the US should have almost no dealings with other countries what so ever.

@tksjewelry:  I was just about to say this. I don’t think it’s so much that he’s racist, I think he thinks government should play a smaller role in how it governs individuals.

@kate169:  and that also is a misconception.  He would leave it to the states to do as they wish on that subject.

@tksjewelry:  It’s definitely true that Paul is a strict constitutionalist, but it’s really not true that he is an isolationist. This is getting thrown around a lot, but to truly be an isolationist you would have to be against trading with other nations. Paul is by far the most free-trade candidate up there. He is just not interested in starting more wars, whereas most of the other candidates would be happy to have us occupy Iran.

@kate169:  I find that so sad.  I have worked in National Politics for twenty years and it always amazes me that most people have never taken 5 minutes to look up for themselves view points of candidates.  Shoot, most people who vote can’t even name their own Congressman or the VP.  It just makes me sad.
