Hi everyone, new to joining the forum, but just had to get some input.
Last Tuesday we spend 5200 dollars on a Vera Wang wedding set (thats A LOT for us, but I fell in love with the sparkle), the one with the double halo on the main Zales page.
Anyway, it seems like all I’m reading now is horror stories about diamonds falling out, and rings and diamonds getting swapped with lesser quality ones. I know its normal to only hear the bad stuff about anything- noone ever posts the good stories!
I’ve seen a few girls who seem pretty satisfied with their purchase. I havent gotten my ring yet- will come in tomorrow or Friday. Anyone around that can ease my mind until then??

Don’t worry!! Did you buy insurance? My ring is from a chain store and it is beautiful and I get compliments on it all the time! Enjoy your purchase and your ring! If any issues come up, just take it in and I am sure they will fix the problem! 🙂

@xcarley: Diamonds can fall out of any ring.
Fiance got my ring from Zales (and all of my other jewelery) and I have never had any problems with anything. You should be fine 🙂

Okay.. so I’m a jeweler.. and yes, stuff like that happens. The switching of the diamonds yadda yadda. But, the upside of buying from a chain store, is that they would NEVER EVER risk it. That person working on your ring would have been arrested, sued, and all sorts of stuff if that were to happen.
The main reason diamonds fall out of rings is because of a poor jeweler who doesn’t know how to set diamonds, or just slamming your hand into things. It’s suggested that you get diamonds checked for tightening at LEAST once a year. =)

Here is a recent thread about an appraisal:
It was very favorable. The Vera Wang rings are absolutely gorgeous. Congratulations!

I was really worried about the diamond being swapped out too as I just sent mine back to the jeweler for resizing. My friend told me that when she went ring shopping w/ her fiance, the jeweler showed them w/ a magnifying glass where you can find the serial number on the diamond to match up w/ your GIA report…Hopefully this will give you some piece of mind..I plan on trying this when I get mine back 😀

Thank you all for making me feel better! I got my ring and got it appraised already. Heres what I have to say about my beautiful ring! 🙂
