I am glad you talked. That is just a start, keep the conversation going. In time you will also need to talk about household budgets, view and expectations on saving versus miscellaneous spending, whether to have separate accounts in addition to joint accounts, or “fun money” budgets, what you want to save for, how much to put aside for retirement, whether to start tuition funds for your own kids (if you have them) so they don’t have or have as many loans, and so on. Like I said before, financial circumstances can always change if you are spending your lives together so you will need to revisit often!
