And I have two more second-round interviews this week!!!
Not sure if you remember, but about a month ago, I asked whether you bees would donate an egg, because our financial situation here was getting a bit desperate and I was seriously considering it. I decided that money woes would be the wrong reason to donate, and a short-sighted solution considering we wouldn’t see that money for quite some time. Still, Fiance and I have been really worried and had to borrow money for rent and my COBRA coverage this month, since we don’t get his next student loans until January.
But now, suddenly, yesterday, I accepted a temporary part-time job that’s actually in my field. And I was offered a great full-time one today!
The reason I haven’t accepted the full-time gig yet is because I have two more amazing second-round interviews this week, and I’m pretty confident in them. (I had to nudge one of them to finally squeeze me in, and I got to give them a deadline and tell them about my other offer!)
Needless to say, I am feeling pretty damn sassy. Here is the crazy thing: I am an agnostic/mostly atheist. But FI’s mom told me today that she had been doing a really intense “Novena” prayer (whatever that is) for me to find the “right job,” and the prayer cycle ended about a week and a half ago. That is when all four of these jobs got back to me! Pretty incredible.
Anyway, just had to share: Fiance and I are covered now no matter what, and I might even score my dream job if I’m aggressive enough for these next two interviews… Yay!
My only worry is that I only have until Friday at noon to accept this offer. My interview tomorrow (Wednesday) is at 4 p.m., and the other is Thursday at 10 a.m. I did send the HR lady for the Thursday job my references so she could get a head start if she felt so inclined, but I have the feeling I won’t end up hearing back in time…

Seriously, today rocks! Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is on and there are Mint Milano cookies in the pantry. Totally gonna dip ’em in hot chocolate. Time to celebrate! 🙂

Congrats– and yum! I have Mint Milanos… now I have to go get them.

A novena is a nine day cycle of prayer for a specific problem or request. So basically your Future Mother-In-Law was pestering God for nine straight days on your behalf! 🙂 I’m glad it worked, I’m sure your hard work played into it too 🙂
I love novenas, tonight starts the famous St. Andrew Christmas Novena which is actually 25 days of prayer from November 30 to December 25.

Okay, I am actually totally excited for the first job right now. My deadline to accept is noon tomorrow, but unless one of the other jobs I interviewed with this week comes in with a sudden announcement of mad cash, I’m totally taking it.
I kinda just want to say yes right NOW but feel, perhaps, it’s irresponsible without at least seeing what the other places have to say. I really got a good vibe from my potential co-workers at this place, though, and although the money isn’t GREAT for Manhattan, our expenses are relatively low because of student housing, I’m making a teensy bit more than I was before and there are all kinds of great perks.
Ahhhh!!! Yay!!! I want to shout it from the rooftops!!! But I will be patient and wait about… hmm… ten or eleven more hours before I say yes.
