Lol, to each their own. I love that sapphire ring!

Yeah I wouldn’t consider most of them “new,” particularly the cuts. All of those cuts have been around for a long time. Of the list, I would consider maybe sapphires, mixed metals, and east-west settings to be newer trends/ experiencing sudden gains in popularity. I’m surprised rose gold wasn’t in there on its own. LOL on conflict free being a trend!

Oh, and I noticed that the picture for bezel set ring is prong set.

I have an Emerald cut ring.  Some of the stores in our area didn’t even have Emerald cut diamonds to show us last year when we were searching for the ring ering for me.  I have never met another person in real life (only on the bee) with an Emerald cut.  So it’s interesting to me that it is the first one listed in trends now.

I also noticed that the image for bezel ring is prong set.  More notable though is the fact that many of these images were taken from the Tacori website without giving them credit.  MSN is and always has been a poor source for news and information.

@howtobeawife:  Ditto. I specifically chose an emerald because its not seen everyday.

I think it’s more that they are “new” trends as in “they are coming back around again.”

I see people keep talking about these new fashion trends- leggings, sweater dresses, floral print pants, neons. Sure… it’s the ‘new’ thing to do, but it’s totally just revamped 80s fashion.

I have a sapphire. A white sapphire. Before Tiffany’s started promoting diamonds and prong settings, white sapphire bezel rings were THE engagement ring. And that’s what I have. 🙂

Couldn’t agree more!

How on earth is an emerald cut and pear new?  Its right up there with sapphires. Three styles of rings that have been around for ages.  Whoever wrote this needs to fact check.

No ring design is really “new”. It’s just a matter of what percent of the market share they have at any given time. And saphires are certainly more popular now than they were 5 years ago.

The East-West Marquise is relatively new and could potentionally get popular this year, but other than that everything else seems rather common. At least in the online jewelry world.

I also agree with @VeggieBee:  regarding MSN being a poor news source. it’s just fluff, and was probably sponsored by jewelry companies.
