$1.5k+ for alterations isn’t reasonable to me! The etsy one is cool and pretty, but it’s not fluffy romantic, if that’s what you want. Could you keep looking? Maybe a plain tulle strapless gown with a topper, or even a top and skirt combo?

I love the Watters gown. My dress is strapless too, when we were thinking of what to wear on top for the church ceremony, my stylist suggested wearing a bodysuit under the dress and then taking it off for the reception. If I’m not mistaken, my bodysuit was around $350-$400.

Many of the dresses you see online are strapless and they appear to have sleeves because of the bodysuit.

This is not my dress, but this is the bodysuit that I will be wearing. Hope this helps!

I’d try on a bodysuit before committing. I tried on several in salons and they were cute enough although not particularly modest. The real problem was with how uncomfortable they were. Very Itchy with stiff fabric. And the itchiness was mostly for. The embroidery, although a couple were completely itchy and I couldn’t wait to take any of them off.

I think the second dress is so much more unique. Not sure if that matters to you, but I love both. I would be tempted to go with the second one because it’s gorgeous and less mainstream.
