I think a lot of an eating disorder is mental and that folks need to work on body image (either alone or with help) before they will truly care about graphic pictures. Due to their mental images of themselves, many think the risk is worth taking.

Well, I was warned but I looked anyway, and now I regret it. I made it 3 pictures in and quit.

I don’t understand why you’d post this?

Most people don’t resort to eating disorders to be thin, prese, it’s to gain control over something in their life. To help cope with other mental pain.

Bombarding people it graphic pictures is not going to make someone say, “oh, bulimia is bad! It will damage my body, I will stop.”

Most people that suffer from eating disorders actually don’t care a whole lot about themselves, thus these photos are useless. It’s a mental/emotional disorder. It’s rarely about being thin.

Why did I look? My heart goes out to those who suffer.

I know that my eating issues are mental/emotional and not really about wanting to be thinner. Based on what the PP’s have indicated, I know I shouldn’t look at those pictures.

@Laurenskii:  +1 EDs rarely start out as a a control mechanism. They usually start out as a diet and morph into something worse. You think you are in control and can stop anytime until you can’t.

@Laurenskii:  Sorry but these or similar pictures (since I didn’t really purge much) never would have stopped me from developing anorexia.  I wanted to be stick thin at all costs and was so depressed I didn’t care if it killed me.

I don’t even understand the point of you posting this on a primarily wedding forum. I don’t have a problem with the content since you put an appropriate warning in place, I just don’t get the point of it.  It just seems a little attention seeking.
