I fell in love with the Christina Wu 15417 in a bridal store in Wisconsin. It was $1000 in the store and out of my budget. So I looked online at house of brides and was overjoyed when I found it for $559! My wedding is a year away still so I figured i’d order it by end of summer (just to make sure I got the right size). Today when I went online to look at it again, it was listed at $985, WHAT! The only thing I can think of is that the originaly $559 was a mistake. However now my dream dress is out of my price range. I’m starting to get so frustrated with wedding planning and totally not enjoying it at all since i’m on a budget.

I’m sorry. Maybe you can call them and ask them about the price discrepancy? Or look for it used at once wed or preowneddresses.com?
Budgets suck, I’m dealing with that too right now. I’m eating chocolate to allay the anxiety!

that’s odd. the only thing i can think of (why the price was raised) because we are getting into peak bridal season. i mean, most brides who are getting married this summer should already have their dresses, but their may be some who need one rush order. just a thought. maybe you should try calling.

Darn what a bummer I love 15417 too! What about a copy of it?

House of Brides is actually being investigated by the FBI/IRS for really substantial tax evasion right now – my friend that is getting married got her gown and bridesmaids’ dresses there, and saw the article in the newspaper the day she went to pick everything up. So the price increase may have something to do with that. Regardless, you’re likely better off shopping elsewhere in case something really goes south with their legal case and they disappear or something!
