We shop together every year for one big gift we both want. Last year it was a piece of art for our newly renovated dining room. This year it will be furniture for our newly renovated offices!

We aren’t doing physical gifts, just a big vacation in January which is a gift to ourselves (oh and we are going to Mexico the weekend before Christmas, so that’s an added gift to each other!)

Boyfriend is getting an Intro to Backcountry Riding experience with a guide. I love skiing in the backcountry, and would love to introduce him to splitboarding.

I’ve also going to do a stocking with deodorant, toothpaste, toiletries, etc. I bought a few new t-shirts.

I haven’t decided fully yet but we never go big for Christmas.

Our anniversary is the end of Nov, my birthday the beginning of Dec, Christmas and then his birthday the beginning of Feb so pretty much all of our gift giving occasions for the year are within about 2 months of each other.  We make Christmas the most low key, usually we pick somewhere fancy for a dinner out a few days before Christmas and then we do little stocking filler gifts.

For his birthday in Feb I am throwing him a surprise party and planning a secret whiskey weekend in the Scottish highlands. For Christmas I have a leather little card holder since he hates chunky wallets, and I’m looking for some show or event I can get us tickets for early Jan and maybe a hat for our ski trip in Feb.

I’m getting my boyfriend suit accessories (monogrammed cufflinks and lapel pin, a tie bar and a storage bag), because he wants to dress fancier 🎄

My boyfriend and I just bought engagement rings for each other (his will be done Dec 15!! I can’t wait to pick it up from the jeweler) so I don’t plan on spending as much as I usually do on gifts. We went to a concert last month, got VIP tickets for it that included a signed poster. I also bought him a vinyl so I’ll get those framed for him to hang with all his other music related decor.

He didn’t have a stocking as a kid so I made one out of felt for him and filled it with chocolate oranges, sample coffee grounds, and beard oil.

So he got me this gorgeous painting from a secondhand shop (which I had pointed out to him). I found it by accident because I was putting something in his car and it’s enormous and unmissable. Cost just under 300 and I emailed the artist for more info… the original went for 5000 in dental work and ours is the only copy in existence. Pretty sweet deal, I feel wealthy.

However, we are also building an addition to our house and just had our second baby (read:nearly broke) and the painting is for him as well, technically. I have no clue what I could do that would compare. Best I can guess at is some accessory for his drone. I’d like to do furniture but not without his help. Ugh, tough year, in a good way.

My fiancé and I agree to buy the other an item we need for our next trip. The first year we bought eachother hiking boots, the second year we bought eachother rain jackets and this year we will be buying eachother snorkels for our honeymoon! ❤️

We also like to gift eachother DIY gifts ($25 limit) to surprise one another. This year I was thinking of gifting him the following zoomed in, pixelated photo of a piece of fabric from my wedding dress (is it still bad luck if the groom only sees a couple stitches before the wedding…? 😂)

I got him a baby this year. I feel like that should cover the next few gift-giving occasions.

Actually, I almost forgot. I did get him something at Target awhile back because he kinda looks like Kenny G when he lets his hair grow long: http://www.biggcreative.com/games/kenny-g/

I got my husband some personalised wooden cufflinks and a tie clip. They came in a crap box though so I went and found him a much nicer wooden box that fits all 3 by some miracle. The box turned out so nice I ended up ordering a different one for myself that I am waiting on to be mailed lol.

I actually was just Amazon-ing today. It seems like a lot, but we go pretty big for Christmas and then don’t really give gifts to each other for the rest of the year.

  • Carhartt sweatshirt and Hanes sweatpants – he’s never been one for sweats, but more and more he’s wearing his one pair.
  • Carhartt coat – his “work” coat is getting really beat up. He’s a mechanic at a fab shop, so he needs something tough and really warm bc the shop isn’t heated.
  • 4 pair of boxers
  • Timberland casual boots – he literally only owns a pair of New Balances, the wedding shoes, and work boots. I’m sick of going to a fancy restaurant and him having “no shoes that go”.
  • Mechanic belt – has no buckle so he can wear it and bend over vehicles.

Nothing fancy, but it’ll do.
