I was just wondering what all the bees out there really hate on wedding dresses? When you actually bought your dress did you end up with the very thing you thought you hated? I don’t like satin or pickups for my dress, but they look fabulous on other girls (and sometimes i run into serious dress lust over these very things) but I didn’t get a dress that featured either of these.

Sometimes I wonder if pickups are going to be to the 2000s what puffed sleeves were to the 80s.

Not a big fan of the pickups… I hope my future wife see this (since she’s on here!)
edit: It’s probably pretty bad that I know what a pickup is…

I hate sparkly anything. They look lovely on many other dresses I’ve seen, but my No. 1 “NO” was anything sparkly/glittery/bedazzly. My dress ended up adhering by this rule.
However, I previously hated corsets, but my dress that I fell in immediate love with has a corset. And surprisingly, it was a major selling point! 🙂

I hate sparkles/sequins, pickups, and most one-shouldered gowns.

I also don’t like pickups for myself, but looks stunning on all the other brides!

@so_said_ellie: i so much agree with you 😛

i changed the pole to multichoice so that if there are two equally disliked choices there is no choice!

for me it’s pickups and corset backs. no thank you.

@so_said_ellie: Those are the EXACT words said to me by a bridal boutique owner when I was debating on what dress to get! While I love pick ups and their drama I was a bit off after she said this to me so I ended up with a more “timeless” dress without them.
In my personal opinion I don’t much care for taffeta due to the sound it makes and I ended up with a satin dress just as I thought I would. I will say that there were several taffeta designs I liked if only I could change the fabric.

Wow, I had no idea people disliked pickups so much. My dress does not have them. It does have ruffles which I love but am afraid it will be like the puffy sleeves of the 1980’s.

PICK-UPS. I immediately said no to trying any on when I was looking. I also don’t like too much bling or the “shredded paper” look like the Vera Wang dresses (think Chelsea Clinton). I am a very simple kind of girl and I like to wear my clothes instead of the other way around. I can’t pull off lots of embellishment.

@so_said_ellie: They so are!! My sister got married 3 years ago this August in a gorgeous Ines Di Santo with pick-ups. So so so gorgeous! But it was 3 years ago and the trends they are a changing!
I don’t like the sheer bodices. Think Pnina. Can’t we just have one day where everyone is classy and not showing so much skin?

pickups! i told this to the consultant at the first place i went dress shopping at. what did she do? she brought it a bunch of dresses with pickups and insisted i try them on anyway!
i did… and then i told her “it looks like the seamstress was drunk when she was pinning the skirt together.”
