    I hate

    1. Mermaid style dresses, One my hatred is because i can’t wear them but also it looks lik the ballgown flew south for the winter and it just doesnt look appealing to me

    2. One shoulder,I have Tried on one shoulder, and it feels like I have no support on the other side. I am also very OCD and it have to be the same on both sides

    3. Zipper backs, My bad experiance with zipper dresses, They break or catch or something, I think string is just easier.

Pick-ups, 3-dimensional/textured skirts, ruffles/tiers, see-through corsets are my least favorites.

I also just hate dresses with too many details, bling etc. It just seems tacky to me.

@Meowmixsong1121:  String is easier unless you have to dress yourself!  LOL!  I wanted a dress that had a tie back, but then I realized that since I was eloping, I’d have to figure out how to tie it all by myself.  Uhhh…not happening!

For me I didn’t want a dress with pickups, ruching, or any big bows, or a-line.  I didn’t like corset too much at first but ended up with one since I bought my dress where I am from (12 hours from where I currently live) and was trying to not do too many alterations.  They ended up having to bring the dress in more on the sides anyways because it was still too big … geez!

I don’t like lace. At all. It makes me look like a grandmother no matter what style it is. There are some beautiful lace gowns out there – too bad for me.

I had three specific requests when I went dress shopping: no lace, no corset backs, and no beading/bling/embroidery. Those design elements can be stunning on some people, but they are so very much not me.

@Ms. Pink Scrubs: Well, you probably have design elements that you don’t like, but a lot of other brides have. It’s nothing personal, it’s just personal taste. The world would be boring if everyone liked the same thing.

I don’t like tons of fabric. Some of the really popular dresses have masses of fabric on the bottom. To me it looks like the designer took all the cut up scraps off the table and started sewing it on the bottom in an effort not to waste or something. I understand the need for drama, but we want to see the BRIDE, not the gigantic dress that is eating your body. Also, I have no idea what the fabric is called, it’s probably sateen or something but that really cheap, shiny fabric that gets pills and runs easily? Yeah it is shapeless and looks horrible on everyone.

I had to google what pick up dresses look like, haha!  I tried a pick up dress and I looked like a cupcake, the dress definitely wore me. So, for myself, not a fan. But, a friend of mine wore a pick up dress for her wedding and looked beautiful!

Mostly, I’m not a fan of plain dresses at the bottom. I just think they look like they’re lacking something. But that doesn’t mean that someone wouldn’t look beautiful in it, just my personal taste.

I wish ruffles and layered fabric skirts were on the pole. I also don’t like dramatic mermaid dresses. I do like pickups (my dress has them ;]), but I know they’ve been overdone. I think people will be saying the same thing about ruffles and mermaid dresses in 3-5 years. 😉

I really hate pick-ups. It makes the dress look like crumpled up Kleenex to me! Sorry pick-up brides! It just isn’t my style.

@Anniebo lol I had a feeling someone would say that after my monster list. I love sheath dresses, drop waist (if done well), sweep trains (just a touch of oooh shes a bride! Not to mention trip safe.), halter necks, off the shoulder, portrait neckline, nice wide straps, open back (just not so low that your but crack is almost haning out, simple details (ie one or two little things to make the dress really pop)

wow I’m surprised so many people don’t like corset backs! i LOVE mine – but then I’m maggie sottero obsessed! there’s nothing i don’t like really..all different dresses look good on different brides so it depends on the person. For myself i liked lots and lots of sparklies, a big train, corset back, sweetheart neckline and strapless bodice.
