I call her by her first name.  She has said I’m welcome to call her mom if I want, but that feels weird to me.  FI calls my mom either by her first name or mom.  His mom calls her Mother-In-Law mom, so I guess it’s normal for him.

We dont see each other much, but I fail to use a name or anything.   I just start talking to her.  I cant imagine calling her mom or anything like that.  At least it’ll be easy once we have kids, I can refer to her as grandma.. hehe.

My mother is the most wonderful person in my life (besides FI) so I couldn’t imagine every calling anybody else “mum”. Future Mother-In-Law will be called by her first name. TBH I don’t really care if she’d prefer “mum” (I’ve never asked) because’s not my mother an d never will be.

Also, I’m not her biggest fan lol

OOOOH I love this thread!!!! My Future Mother-In-Law actually gave me my SN, Baby Diva….she also refers to herself as a Diva….so I call her my Momma Diva!!! — she loves it!!! 🙂

I actually just avoid calling her anything.  Whenever I’m with Fiance I just say “your mom” and when I’m around, I just make eye contact before speaking to her, so I don’t call her anything.  But when talking to other people I refer to her as either “FI’s mom” or her first name.

I either call her mama or her nickname.

I guess this is cultural. I can’t imagine my SIL calling my mum by her first name. Anyhow, in my culture, you call your in-laws mum, mummy, dad, daddy, papa etc. Your SIL and Brother-In-Law are brother and sister. So I call mine ‘mummy’ and call my mum ‘mum’ All the friends I have from the same culture call their in laws the same way. Funny enough, when I was in college, my best friend’s mum kept telling me to call her by her first name. I was so weirded out by it. I had to tell her to tell her mum that I couldn’t ever do that. She should please respect my wishes. So she relented. I called her Mrs. J 🙂

this is so interesting! I am still saying “Mrs.Last Name” I’m actually quite unsure about calling her by her first name and she’s never told me to call her otherwise.

After we get married I’m going to call her Mother, or Mom.

Her first name.  I doubt I’ll ever call her mom – that’s for mine alone.  Now, Father-In-Law (they’re long time divorced)…there are oodles of issues so the idea of calling him Father/Dad is utterly laughable.

I wonder the age breakdowns for those calling her mom/ma/mother – if they tend to be younger or not.

i call my future mil by her first name. I love her to death and she’s is definitely a mom to me but I can’t imagine calling anyone but my mother “mom.” She’s my one and only haha.

I call them both by their first names, but I’m planning on calling them mom and dad after we’re married. I joke with my Future Mother-In-Law all the time that I will start calling her mom when she least expects it lol
