i don’t think they were that bad on you at all.  i actually really like the first one on you but maybe with a sweetheart neckline instead.  a sweetheart or a v-neck would look good on you vs straigh across.

I actually really like the 1st and last one on you. You have a great figure with nice curves (in fact I’m jealous!) I agree with other posters, it’s definitely not you. A couple of the other dresses were just BLAH and not right for you. Try another salon, I am sure you will find your dress.

I agree with PP’s – you’re just trying on the wrong styles for you – this is something that everyone has to deal with, nothing to do with you!

Don’t let a bad store experience discourage you – DO NOT go back there and go to another store. You’re already put off by the feeing they gave you and that is no way to shop for a dress. You will find one!!

I think something like this would look great on you! With a fuller skirt, good lines, and a better neckline:

I like the last one, I think it’s a step in the right direction!

I think most of these dresses just aren’t doing your figure justice–have you tried some other silhouettes, or dress with more boning and structure? I wear a size 6 and I hated how I looked in in all the flowy or sheath dresses.  When I went dress shopping I realized that finding something that looks great it more about working with my body type than just trying on styles you’re drawn to. Keep trying on different styles and you will find something you love!

Don’t give up! I know it can be discouraging but you will find something that works.  I would definitely try one some more fit and flare, or dropped waist styles.  They are so much more flattering than I would have imagined!  I would recommend Alfred Angelo in Dedham.  They were sooo friendly and had tons of plus sized samples!

I actually like the first one! It looks a little small, but I think the overall shape is flattering on you – it really accentuates your figure, especially with that big sash in the middle. However, I agree with PP who suggest trying on some dresses that have straps as well.

That last dress is really pretty!  But if you don’t love it then it’s definitely not your dress.

The first thing I thought of when I looked at your photos is “she needs a sweetheart neckline.” Those straight and dipped necklines were not flattering…it wasn’t you, it was the dress styles.

Don’t give up hope the right dress is out there, I promise. I had to try on over a 100 to find the one and it got very frustrating.

I agree with the other posters that a modified A-line or even slight fit and flare would really flatter your figure, with a sweetheart neckline of course.

That last one is great on you.  The one before though had way too much going on.  I thinks that the one that you said you liked the shape of but I feel like that shape did nothing for you body.  But the tiers of tulle appliqued on like giant rick rack is pretty garish. I think you should shoot for a silhouette similar to the last one.  I also really like the one on you that you thought looks like a maternity dress. I think it is flattering and it looks ultra light and comfortable.  My only regret with my dress is that I didn’t choose something lighter and more comfortable.  My dress is so heavy.

Don’t get discouraged. Think of this as a learning experience. Now you know what shapes look better on your body. I know its hard when they bring you a size ten and you have to be like “Um, no way will I fit in that lady.”

I think the last one was the most flattering.  Try on an a-line with a natural or dropped waist or even a fit and flare that flares out a bit higher than where the last dress hit you. You’ll find something. Sometimes it just takes awhile.

honestly I had a very similar experience… except it was at alfred angelo  I wasn’t planning on trying on dresses and my sister in law (who is 90 lbs soaking wet) took me shopping I felt like a beached whale in everything they put me in to the point it took me another 3 months to go to a bridal salon which then put me in a position where I didn’t have time to even think.  I bought maggie’s symphony dress.  I loved how it looked on me 4 sizes too small and the removeable jacket gave me the security I needed to feel good down the aisle.  I did not take any pictures of me in it because I knew I would look back at them and hate them we took pictures of the “runner up” and when I look back on it I HATE it but I loved it in the store so I think lighting has alot to do with the photos you look back on.  I just pray I love my dress when it comes in.

It’s just that none of those dresses were right for you at all. That saleslady sounds awful! My advice is to try on some A-lines and avoid the fit and flare/mermaid styles 🙂
