hikingbride :  That salmon bowl sounds freaking amazing. Do you mind sharing the recipe?

Shesaidyes : I’ve always wanted to learn to milkmaid braid my own hair but I am terrible at fixing it. One day!

Also, I’m going to have to try to make green sauce. My husband recently discovered a love of German food so I bet he’d be so happy.

catmom17 :  about the braids:yeah, it looks so easy! I bet you can do it. there are tutorials without any frenchbraiding and basically just wrapping it. That’s what I am going for .

About hubby and german food: German food is awesome and I love that your husband is into it ๐Ÿ™‚

Souzie :  now we are getting ice in north east! Glad your fish were okay:-) omg that recipe. Never heard of that before and I love middle eastern food.

wildflowerz :  Fiance only got excerpts, finished them – we get the full book in a few days, it’s TROUBLING so far. I’m also reading Joe Biden’s book Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose. So sad. I’ll check out Trevor noah’s, thx for rec.

BMoreBecc :  enjoy your date night! Reminded me to push for one myself — we have been working night and day and I’m missing him.

claroquesi :  are you a fashion major? You have very detailed, good suggestions on the boards.

ps Robbie said we could ask questions ourselves! Anyone? Anyone?

BalletParker :  Thank you so very much! No, I’m not a fashion major, but I do love – I don’t know if it could be described as fashion – clothes. I love that clothes “speak”, and can say who we are, how we feel, how we want others to see us, how we celebrate important events in our life. I love that clothes can make very important statements, from the political, to an act of personal defiance, as my mother taught me: no matter if sadness or pain is enveloping one’s life at a given moment, you face the world with an impeccable “look”. It is symbolic, certainly, but I find it helps. Goodness, I hope I didn’t bore you with my answer!

1. Current food obsessions – Red lentil dal, mushrooms, kale and vegenaise.

2. Current food you usually like but have gone off of – Crisps (chips), bread, smoothies (mainly because of the weather) and fizzy drinks.

3. Current fave TV show? I haven’t had time to watch much. The only thing I’ve seen recently is The Assasination of Gianni Versace.

4. What song have you listened to the most this week? Put your records on by Corinne Bailey Rae.

5. Current book you’re reading or last book you’ve read? I’m just about to finish Earthsearch by James Follett (which is nowhere near as good as the radio series), and next on the list is A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab.

6. Are you in your spring clothes yet or still in winter gear? What are your ‘go to’ pieces? This past weekend is the first non-winter weather we’ve had, so my wardrobe has mostly consisted of cosy jumpers (sweaters), dark jeans and faux leather boots.

7. Which folder have you been most active on recently on the Bee? I just scroll down the main page and see what looks interesting.

8. Which wedding trend are you liking? Minimal makeup, small weddings, no wedding party, and actually decent vegan menu options.

9. Name something you’re looking forward to – Finishing my degree in july, graduating in september, and moving in with my SO again.

10. Did you make New Year’s Resolutions? If so, did you keep any/all of them? Care to share details? I don’t make resolutions per se, but I do look at each area of my life, and make a plan for the developements or changes I want to make. My plan for this year is as follows:

Family and Friends – Keep in better contact with loved ones – I have been sending handwritten letters to family and friends, and I have visited my parents twice as frequently as I did last year.

Personal Developement – Continue to develope self-love/acceptance, and participate in more acts of self-care – This has been going well, though the self-care has been a little more difficult over the past month due to my workload.

Spirituality – Meditate daily and do yoga 2x per week – I have been consistant with the meditation, but not so great with the yoga.

Finances – Pay off my student overdraft, and save for after graduation – I am on track with doing this.

Relationship – Maintain strong relationship over the last few months of long-distance, and make solid plans for after graduation – We are moving back in together in september, and have discussed timelines re: engagement. Our relationship remains healthy, strong and enjoyable.

Hobbies – Get back into reading, and keep up with bullet journal – I have read 12 books so far this year, which is more than I read for the entirety of 2017.  I have also maintained my bullet journal, and have found it both fun and helpful.

Contribution – Reduce plastic waste and food waste – I have stopped buying plastic packaged goods where possible. I have switched to a reusable water bottle, a safety razor, cloth shopping bags and I carry a travel set of cutlery in my bag so I won’t use disposable ones. I have done more meal planning and batch cooking to reduce my food waste, which has had the added benefit of saving money.

University and Career – Graduate with at least a 2:1. Find a job in the desired area of my field – I’m on track to graduate with a first class degree. I still need to apply for jobs, which I plan to do next month.

Physical Environment – Declutter and be intentional with purchases – I have not done this as much as I would like. I still make too many impulsive purchases for my liking. I have just made a log in my bullet journal where I will write down items I want to purchase, and I will then have to wait 30 days before I let myself buy it. This will hopefully help me to reduce unneccessary purchases that end up being clutter.

Health and Fitness – Improve diet, increase exercise and lose some excess fat healthily – My diet has been pretty good (about 80% healthy, 20% unhealthy), my exercise levels have been absolutely atrocious. I have managed to lose 8lbs so far this year.

1. Current food obsession: Cottage cheese & tomatoes, or goat cheese & balsamic on a black bean burger. And Taco Bell.

2. Current food you usually like but have gone off of: Chips. Doritos, Cheetos, Pringles. I purposely don’t buy them because I can’t control myself.

3. Current fave TV show?: Tie between Grey’s Anatomy and Vanderpump Rules

4. What song have you listened to the most this week?: “Friends” by Marshmello/Anne Marie because it’s on the radio all the time

5. Current book you’re reading or last book you’ve read?: Uncomfortable reminder that I don’t read enough. I think the last book I read was Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter.

6. Are you in your spring clothes yet or still in winter gear? What are your ‘go to’ pieces?: I’m in limbo. It was 75 and sunny mid-week last week and the past two days have been in the mid-30s and rainy. Over it. So right now my go-to piece is my MK winter coat lol. But I pretty much live in yoga pants when I’m not at work.

7. Which folder have you been most active on recently on the Bee?: Just the main page

8. Which wedding trend are you liking?: Non-traditional, small weddings. SO and I are both divorced and have been discussing what we’d want to do for our wedding, luckily we’re in agreement that a large fancy wedding is neither wanted nor warranted.

9. Name something you’re looking forward to.: Getting engaged! I had to use my SO’s phone the other night to google something, and when I opened the browser, it was on a website for a local jeweler. I didn’t tell him I saw it but it made the excitement increase tenfold. He’s amazing and I can’t wait to be his wife.

10. Did you make New Year’s Resolutions? If so, did you keep any/all of them? Care to share details?: So I’m chronically late almost wherever I go and have been my entire autonomous life, so my NY res was to try to be more on time. I’ve been doing pretty well, actually!

1. Current food obsession

Depends on the minute/hour as I have fleeting cravings/aversions (18 weeks pregnant).

2. Current food you usually like but have gone off of

Alcohol. It’s going to be a long summer without margaritas.

3. Current fave TV show?

Not super into anything at the moment.  Wishing the next season of Shameless would release on Netflix. I do like watching Naked and Afraid here and there.

4. What song have you listened to the most this week?

I don’t recall listening to any music this week.

5. Current book you’re reading or last book you’ve read?

A Narrative of Western Culture (free elective for my college degree).

6. Are you in your spring clothes yet or still in winter gear? What are your ‘go to’ pieces?

Just went maternity clothes shopping.  Connecticut is COLD still so I bought items to layer, pants and some dresses that I will eventually transition into.

7. Which folder have you been most active on recently on the Bee?

I always go to Boards for the most current threads and do not select particular sub categories.

8. Which wedding trend are you liking?

Not really in-tune with any wedding trends at the moment.

9. Name something you’re looking forward to.

Looking forward to a week vacation to Florida in May to see in-laws and to catch some sun.

10. Did you make New Year’s Resolutions? If so, did you keep any/all of them? Care to share details?

No.

catmom17 :  Not at all! We got it as a blue apron meal originally, here is a link: https://www.blueapron.com/recipes/mexican-spiced-salmon-with-black-rice-avocado-orange-salad

I usually just mix together 1/2 teaspoon of each spice listed in the spice blend to put on the salmon. And I use way more than 2 tbsps of Peptias because they are my favorite part so I just use a couple handfuls lol.

Yay this is so fun! Loving all the food interests/loves/ideas. I’m realizing food is probably my biggest passion in life lol.

1. Current food obsession: Spinach. I feel like I’m going to turn into a spinach leaf soon the way I’m going. Oh and aioili! (both regular and vegan). I hope I’m not giving anyone the impression I’m too healthy here.

2. Current food you usually like but have gone off of: Nutella but not because the love isn’t there. I just can’t help myself and ALWAYS end up eating the whole damn jar in like 2 days. So I’m not buying any for a while.

3. Current fave TV show? Barry, Peaky Blinders (just started it… I know, I’m late to the party)

4. What song have you listened to the most this week? LP – Lost on You

5. Current book you’re reading or last book you’ve read? I’m reading a lot of books because I’m a teacher and I have to, but most are meh. But the last book I read for pleasure is “The heart goes last” by Margaret Atwood.

6. Are you in your spring clothes yet or still in winter gear? What are your ‘go to’ pieces? UGH. Spring/Summer. I like Spring but this really feels like summer and I’m not a huge fan of summer. I love winter so I’m a little sad. I’m also holding on to winter weight so this sudden warm wave in Europe is not welcome quite yet ๐Ÿ™

7. Which folder have you been most active on recently on the Bee? I lurk on all of them, but mostly rings I think.

8. Which wedding trend are you liking? Pretty outdoor lights

9. Name something you’re looking forward to. May trip to France and Belgium!

10. Did you make New Year’s Resolutions? If so, did you keep any/all of them? Care to share details? My resolutions were to be more grateful and to take better care of myself. I’m getting there…. kind of. Just now starting to make time to work out regularly and trying to lose some weight and not overeat. Hoping to create more of a habit, not just something I do for the summer or a trip (that’s the hard part). I’ve been bad at the gratitude part, but working on it.
