Of all the things we did not specifically budget for, I’d say luggage is going to be a splurge for me.

Of the things we did budget for, I would say photography, food, and the dress were the largest.

@adoc86:  Trash the dress photos are definitely in our future. I hate dust collectors and I see no logical reason to keep my dress (especially for a future daughter that I may not even conceive and will likely want nothing to do with my old, dated looking dress). I want as many pictures as possible!

Originally we were planning a Caribbean elopement but my dad is ill. We want my parents as witnesses (and they are our only guests), so we are doing a local winter elopement. We will have amazing winter snow pictures (it better damn well snow) and then bring my dress along on our honeymoon for a TTD shoot underwater.

I can’t wait!

Photography. We went about $1000 over budget there, but I’ll be honest and say that when I budgeted, I wasn’t fully aware of the average cost of a good photographer. We definitely could have gone with someone with less experience/someone just out of college in our range, but I wanted to guarantee I would have amazing pictures. This specific photographer did a wedding I was in in September of last year, so I knew she was good. However now I’m left cutting back on a few other things since I spent extra money there!

Ours was food and venue by far relative to the other categories. And then we’re not sure ourselves maybe the rings tied with bridesmaid dresses ugh!

Did anyone spend a total of 1500 euros (or dollars) on their bridesmaid dresses + accessories for 4 BMs? I really regret this one, this is one of those purchases that just snowballed 🙁

Photography is our official wedding splurge, but it’s so important to Fiance and I.

For a backyard wedding, you could say that we’re splurging on the venue when we don’t need to.  Technically, we do not need a new fence, patio, lighting, or landscaping to host the wedding, but we’re using the wedding as an excuse to do it all.  Our yard budget is probably 2/3 the amount of our wedding budget.  At least we get to enjoy these updates long after the wedding.

@bleusteel:  I would say you spent the amount others spent on a venue to upgrade your backyard for other events to come as well!

Technically it’s the food especially for a wedding less than 100 people but food is important to us as are our guests, who the majority are also foodies so we think its money well spent. I know some of the guests can’t wait to try the menu out. Other than that it would be the dress.

Photography and food/beverages. I was the pickiest about the photography, while my Fiance is focused on the food. We want our guests to rave about what they’re eating and drinking, and always have a full glass.

My wedding band was also a splurge, but it really compliments my ering, and I’ll wear it every day, so I’m just going to break it down by cost per wear, and convince myself that’s ok!

@Laurenplusalex:  Ours is our accomodations/venue.  We will be putting up all 10 our guests in an OTT lodge where we will also be married.  Bargain price for 12 people 3 nights $3701.00.  Followed closely by photography $3050.00.
