The photography.  It was $1200 for 3 hours.

Then probably the lodging, but we were at the lodge for 3 nights so about $1500?

We’re renting a Bentley for $1400 for basically 1.5 hours of actual use.  It’s the only thing that Fiance got excited about, so we figured that I got an expensive dress that I’m going to wear for six hours and he gets a car.

Haven’t spent the money yet but because we’re so far away from where we’re having our wedding we were hoping to get business class flights from Austrailia to Ireland. We figured its the best way to maximise our time as we won’t lose so many days to exhaustion. Of course this does depend on us not bankrupting ourselves with the wedding!

Videography. My dress may come a close second or surpass it, but I chosen one yet, so we will see.

Having worked in events for several years, I’m familiar with what things cost, so I don’t necessarily consider things that might happen to be expensive splurges. I am, however, planning, to wear Jenny Packham, and IDGAF what anyone else has to say about that. The wedding won’t cost more than I can pay in cash (not that I won’t have help from my family and possibly his, but my own savings account balance is where I’m drawing the line), and I will do my best to get a bargain on it, but I am going to have the dress I want irrespective of cost.

@thumpurr: lodging/venue for us too. We are renting a “cabin” for 6 nights at 10k. Our entire wedding budget is 15k, so you can tell where our priorities are 🙂

@Strawberryfarmer:  We wanted to stay longer, but the Tahoe are is SOOOO expensive, that and we wanted to have some kind of honeymoon before returning home.   It ia just shocking how much all of this costs.

@Laurenplusalex:  Photographer, gown, invitation, florist. Biggest splurge out of all of these is the photographer.

The Knot = $2,379

Us = $3,800

I’m not going to say what cost most. I’ll just note the splurges, totally unnecessary splurges! My earrings $200. Shoes $250 (er that’s three pairs, I’ll only be wearing one pair of those – at least they’re the most expensive @ $150). Emergency kit $95. Live music for ceremony – $700.

Oops.

Bridesmaids dresses. I didn’t mean to but it ended up with the 4 dresses totalling more than the cost of my dress. Oops. I regret that but never mind.

Oh and a 5m round turkish tent for the grounds, that cost £510 and is completely unnecessary except we think it’s cool.

My photographer is pricey at $3800 but I just don’t feel like it’s a splurge!

Definitely food!!!  It’s going to end up being about $8k, and that doesn’t even count the alcohol, cake or venue.   Our original budget was $20k but I have quickly learned that just won’t happen.

We could opt for serving BBQ at significantly less, but it just really doesn’t mesh with the feel of the venue (Romantic, classy, garden).  Had we gone with a more rustic venue, I TOTALLY would have served people BBQ!!!

Well if the Knot says $2379 for photography…ummm…yeah…let’s just say it’s a LOT more! I don’t think I’ll ever quote it here to be honest.

@Laurenplusalex:  We eloped, but if we hadn’t our photographer would have been the biggest splurge. However since we wound up only having to pay her for 2 hours of shooting, my dress became the biggest splurge.
