Not that I dont love silly frou frou. But, I’ve been window shopping dresses and watching SYTTD now with SO and Future Mother-In-Law. All my mom wanted to do on her birthday when SO and I took her to dinner, was talk about dresses. EVERYONE WANTS TO GO DRESS SHOPPING!!!
So when should I really go dress shopping? Whats a good time, so I can account for tailoring?

@HelleCat: Well if your wedding is in Nov 2015, I think you have plenty of time. You may want to wait a bit and see what styles become popular closer to your wedding. Look now so you have an idea of what is around, maybe you like a more classic style. I would then wait to see what is available during the sales, you may pick up a bargain. Definitely time for window shopping/buying a few mags and may be trying on some styles to see what suits you. But give yourself time to see what is coming up. Don’t want dress regret. What a lovely time to look forward to. Enjoy!!

Well since your wedding isn’t until 2015, you have plenty of time. There is going to be lots of different styles between now and then. I don’t think it’s a terrible idea to start looking, but I wouldn’t buy anything just yet. 2015 is a long ways off, and come the end of 2014 (when you probably should start seriously looking) there will be totally different trends, etc.
I put a down payment on a Lazaro last November and we wound up changing our venue and total outlook on the wedding. The dress was pretty, but it just wasn’t me. I wound up getting a mermaid, simple Paloma Blanca in July and couldn’t be happier. Things are going to change SO much in the next 3 years, I suggest just keep browsing online and keep an eye on things. If you REALLY feel the need, go and just try on dresses, but I wouldn’t buy anything.
As for timeline, a dress takes 6 months to come in, add an extra month or two for proper fitting. Of course, this is all totally different if you get a sample (which is what I did) and get to walk out of the store with it.

@HelleCat: You can update you profile on here and it’ll fix to the right date!!
I would wait a little longer to start shopping, maybe till around Summer of 2013, then shop around tons and don’t buy something on the first trip. Dress regret is the worst and if you buy something in June and have all that time to think about it you wil probably have dress regret at some point (especially browsing here and watching SYTTD and pinterest!!)

@HelleCat: I figured I’d order with 9 months, but start looking around a year out (well, looking = trying things on. I’m already “looking” hahah just onine, it’s way too soon, but I’m excited). So take your date, November? Start looking around Thanksgiving, order by early 2014.

SO has been saying May 2014 forever, so I’m gonng go with that lol. He wanted to get married on my birthday, but I was like “Hey no, I already share my birthday with my twin. I want one day a year just about me!”
So hmm. Maybe start REALLY looking around the big DB $99 sale next year. Whenever that is.
