So Worried: Lost Invitations?

Where I’m from, mail is delivered Monday to Friday and it typically takes 2 business days for local mail to be delivered, 3 days for delivery within the same province, and 4 days nationally. Most deliveries are made by 5 pm.

So, if it’s similiar where you live, then Saturday and Sunday don’t count as delivery days. The clock would start Monday, which means local mail should be received by end of day yesterday or today. I wouldn’t start worrying yet, I’m sure most of your local mail will be received by end of day today or tomorrow. Perhaps wait until Friday and if no one has received anything, then follow-up.

mrsnyctola :  I imagine having them hand cancelled would add a bit of extra time, as someone is physically cancelling the stamps by hand rather than a machine doing it.

If you post anything on a Saturday even if it is a post day, chances are it won’t go out til Monday or maybe even Tuesday if they were being hand cancelled. it could be Friday before anyone gets one. if they still haven’t appeared by Monday then go looking for them but relax and don’t worry about it til then.

I think you should relax.  In my area it usually takes 4-5 days to get things that were mailed locally even.

lol. Please relax! Wait a week. I’m sure they will get them. I was anxious too when I first sent out my invites.

I mailed out my save the dates on a Saturday and everyone in my same town received them on Friday. I wouldn’t worry. It’s been like 2 days technically.

mrsnyctola :  I don’t think this is wrong. I know some bees may think otherwise. But I wish I was more organized with my “B” list. I just told later invites to go RSVP on our website and not give me a mail invite.

FYI – just because the office you dropped then in off hand canceled them, doesn’t mean they aren’t going through the machine down the line.

i asked our post office about it and said it costs a fortune for envelopes to not go through any machine.  that’s why i made sure i had regular envelopes going through the mail that wouldn’t have any issues with postage or cutesy stuff added on to it.

also, i would give mail 3-4 days to arrive at destination. relax. so maybe they missed the satuday delivery.  which would put them out monday and give them wednesday or thursday to arrive.

I think you’re fine. Did you send save the dates even via email? Most people probably already have the date in the calendar and are already planning to come. I’d only worry if no one has received it a week later.
