It’s entirely up to you, but if a cruise is what you really wanted to do, then I say go for that! You can still “elope” by just the 2 of you going, get married at sea or in one of the ports, and then send out marriage announcements after its done.

i think Vegas sounds fun. I just hope you really think it through and make sure you have no regrets as you only get one wedding! I say this because it sounds like the decision was made due to a lot of pressure and stress. Had your post been written just to vent about your insane family, I would have encouraged you to stand your ground and have the type of wedding that works for you and your Fiance and what you both really want. You had several good ideas.

I lived in Vegas for seven years and will tell you that Vegas is more than just casinos. You can have a wedding in Vegas that will rival weddings in alot of places. The wedding is about you and your Fiance, no one else. Do what you two want to do and do not worry about anyone else. So, to me, no it’s not tacky, do you and be happy that is all that matters.

There’s one of those Bee bloggers on here who got married in vegas and her’s looked really nice, like super elegant, not tacky at all, couldnt even tell they were in vegas. Plus I don’t know about anyone else but there’s a special place in my heart for newlyweds in front of the old vegas sign. I DON’T KNOW WHAT IT IS ABOUT IT, BUT I LOVE IT! ( I totally ripped these off google. i hope i don’t need a disclaimer…. )

It doesn’t have to be tacky. If you want to elope and Vegas is the most practical option for you (or even if you just want to elope in Vegas!) then there’s nothing wrong with it. Go for it!

- Wedding: June 2012 - Chapel of Flowers
my Fiance and I are elpoing (well a semi-planned elopemant) to Las Vegas. Yes some of the chapels are “tacky” with elvis or even a drive thru wedding, but there are also some nice places to get married. Check out this site http://www.vegas.com/weddings/chapels.html it compares a lot of different chapels so you have options. If you don’t want to get married in a chapel some of the bigger hotels offer wedding packages.

We’re getting married in Vegas in February. Just us two. God, I hope my elopement isn’t tacky! We are getting married at the Juno garden at Caesar’s Palace. Very romantic. …..of course, we probably will do the “Vegas-y” day after pics, though! They are so fun!
